This is pretty big, especially with younger people that have a policy written when they might have had a thin credit file when they were first on their own.
With any company I've gone with, your insurance score, which includes your credit score, serves as a baseline for that policy until a new policy is written. So you could note different premiums for different cars, and may accrue some discounts and/or surcharges that come and go over time (e.g. have an accident that adds a fee that later drops off, or gain a loyalty discount), but they're still based off that initial baseline. Most companies can write you a whole new policy (rather than just replacing cars) without losing your loyalty but still taking advantage of your new situation.
