Cops in Washington DC Metro
Just visited family in the DC area and MAN are there a lot of cops pulling people over for speeding. My cousin says its non-stop continuous with the ticketing in Faifax County. How do you fellow M guys deal with all the cops??? I guess I have it easy in Vegas where cops don't really pull you over unless you're doing crazy speeds.

Yup you've got no choice. Just insane the number of cops who had pulled people over. I've been to all 50 states in my travels and have never seen anything like it.

Careful there with that advise, radar detectors & jammers are illegal in VA.

DC Metro area has gone nuts lately. When I lived there 25 years ago it wasn't like that at all. Now there are also a bunch of speed & red light cameras. When I go there now I never speed

But, we do have a bunch of good tracks within driving distance. Summit Point MIR VIR etc If you end up converting to VA license, just know that 80+ mph overall or 20+ over the limit (whichever is less) is considered a misdemeanor for VA residents. So.. 80 mph in a 70 mph zone is a misdemeanor, as is 75 in a 55. Absolutely insane.

Was making reference to they are detectable by law enforcement, even if you are speeding or not, they will stop you. Out of staters mostly will have no idea of this. So your ignorance in this case might cost someone a problem without even breaking the speed laws.

On my drive back from pcd, in order of F off to ok now incan drive, VA would take the cake. Followed by MD and NC. Hit NJ and NY and back to a comfy 85mph with traffic flow
Ironically, the worst mv accidents i seen medi helos at were in 55mph zones. |

There are only 2 in the market that I know of, living in VA over the years has had me do the research, Redline and the STi from Bel. After reading as much as I could get my hands on I was not completely sold, but to that I'm not saying they don't work either, caveat emptor. But seeing that VA , I think, being only one of a very few states in the country(3 at most I believe)that has this law on the books, it is most likely most visitors if they have detectors would have chosen one of the other 98% in the marketplace, detectable, that are frankly cheaper and work better, based on my radar detector research. There is no doubt about it, we have some very tough driving laws here and with police vehicles having the ability to pick up these signals, add to that the 20+ mile over the speed limit misdemeanor thing, it's a tough day here if you get pulled over. Thankfully as said above, we have some great places to run here, none any better than the VIR!

Nah, psi has nothing to do with it down here, I've seen minivan moms with a car load on people's asses on the beltway down here, going between 65-90! Cops got their pics whenever they want one. Must be a VA mentality thing!

Waze has served me rather well. Over on the MD side about 15 over is pretty normal if you're on a highway and traffic isn't slowing you down. The strict enforcement on the VA side probably has a lot to do with why auto insurance is about half what it is in MD.

I just won't touch more than 19 over or 78 mph. The penalties actually used to be larger. VA was the home of the $3k speeding ticket (plus misdemeanor to boot!).
