Any way to pull your recent speed (stupid ticket)?

I just got pulled over and accused of doing 51 in a 35. I do not believe I was driving that fast, but I wasn't watching my speed either.

Is there anyway to pull that from the car?

The cop said he hit me with radar driving the other way, so it was several minutes between when I was recorded driving that fast and when I was pulled over.

The trip data shows fuel economy over the trip, the speed has to be there somewhere.

Definitely no way to get the info you're looking for unfortunately. Next time ask the cop for the print out from their radar gun. I'm pretty sure they're required to hand it over.

I'm sure there's a way, but BMW likely has to get it and they would likely need a court order to do so (e.g. in the event of an accident).

I have been able to pull speed from the drive recorder incidentally, but of course you would have had to manually trigger the recording at the time he clocked you. I know some people practice manually recording for rock chips in the event one unknowingly caused some serious damage, plus it gets them in that habit so they can trigger it in the event of a minor collision. I suppose you could add speed traps or every time you see a cop to that list. At that point, obviously getting a decent dash cam would be best as they'll continuously record both speed and video without question.

I can't help answer your question, but I will say that even my wife who absolutely hates radar detectors is now considering one because she doesn't notice the speed around town in the X7. Size and air suspension make it feel like you are going a lot slower than you actually are.

I have a dashcam that records speed but im sure states attorney would argue it's no calibrated properly and you couldnt prove that was your actual speed.

Very true, if you were getting the speed off the X7 and have larger wheels, you could go ahead and select the smallest diameter wheel/tire option in iDrive to shave off a few MPH.

Time to get a radar detector for the future.

Lawyer up, depending on the state, this can wreck your insurance rates. Get a good lawyer and have him handle this, he could knock this down to a non moving violation or other violations that don't show up on your record. This isn't cheap, but will be cheaper in the long run and you won't get points on your license so your insurance rates don't go up.

Sorry to hear. Get one of these bad boys for sure. I hate to say it, but chances are, you were probably speeding. As you probably know, this car gets away from you fast, and it's so damn smooth and quiet that I often have no clue how fast I'm going.
