Dude, they literally don't look alike at all.
They are both white four door sedans with headlights, 4 wheels, and rear lights, but other than that, they have nothing in common. What is it with these people and Lexus? Is it some sort of a fetish?

I see in the M-Performance parts catalog there is a blacked out kidney grill with slats - I wonder if the kidney grills are the same size on the M340i? If so and you hate the new mesh kidney grill you could swap out for the M-Performance blacked out kidney grill.

Does anybody else think the rear tail lights look similar to a Lexus?

You cannot swap the Grille if you choose the M40i/M40d.

Should've came like this! Not so busy but to the point. There's new styling yet it still looks BMW.

Prediction: y'all will completely forget about the big grilles and weird line on the side when you drive it.
- Increased front & rear track - Body rigidity up by 25% - Still 50/50 weight distribution - New unique dampers - 120 lb weight reduction - Active M Sport differential - 382hp/369 lb ft torque My 340i lease is up in February 2020...timing will be just right for M340i. |

It's not in his head. The new 3er has incredibly generic styling.

Will have to wait to see it in person, I agree that the bumper looks very busy but the rendered images usually exaggerate light so you can see every body line at once.

Had the mesh design of the grille been just plain black it would have been just fine - black like the Sport Line and the M Sport yet with a different pattern, plus the Cerium Grey outline, making the M Performance versions stand out.
But these Cerium Grey dotted lines sprinkled over the black pattern just make the grille look toyish, unserious and un-premium. They should either have kept a classical slat design with black or Cerium Grey vertical slats inside the Cerium Grey outline, or went all the way through to a clean black mesh design inside the Cerium Grey outline, but they tried to visually mix both solutions and the result looks half-assed and nowhere as well suited to the 3er as it is to the more light-hearted Z4. |
