M3 Ordering experience (First time BMW buyer)
Hello everyone,
I special ordered a 2018 BMW M3 at my local dealership here in Las Vegas and I just wanted to document my experience. 2018 BMW M3 Mineral White Metallic Cloth Interior Carbon Fiber Trim Options: Competition Package Driving Assistance Package Executive Package Double-clutch Transmission Wireless Charging and WiFi Hotspot MSRP: $79k I ordered the car back in October working with Henderson BMW, there is only 2 BMW dealerships here in Las Vegas but thankfully the sales guy I am working with has been great so far. It seems like he is the go to guy for the M3/M4 crowd. The financing stuff hasn't been finalized yet since I wanted to wait for my credit score to climb back up (just refinanced my home). Based on the quote I was already given, I will probably be paying around 74-75k + tax but hopefully I can apply that $3000 bonus incentive towards the price. I am still up in the air whether or not I want to buy or lease as well. The car is currently in transit on "Toscana" and should hit land on 12/9/17. I would imagine the car will be at the dealership the following week, I will update you guys then with more info and pics. I plan on adding a few of the M performance pieces but I will probably buy those separately rather than roll them into my lease or finance payment, unless someone can convince me otherwise. |

+1 - if you lease you'd be an idiot not to roll that into your payment ... unless you wanna fuck around with installing and then uninstalling and trying to sell. What a hassle. just roll it into the lease.

Just a note that only port installed parts can be fully residualized on a lease. If you have them dealer installed, they are no longer residualized - not even a fraction of it. So it might be too late for OP if the car is about to hit port.

Per the correct advice above, only port installed items are residualized. MPE exhaust is a part that *can* be port installed, but the car needs to be ordered that way. The Monroney sticker will even show the part as an "option" from the factory.
Not all MP parts can be port installed. Your dealer can tell you which can/can't. |

One more note - your dealer may not know exactly what can or cannot be added and/or may not be willing to do the legwork. I had to work directly with BMW NA Genius to get parts added to my order. I was lucky and got a Genius that kept me updated and was in direct contact with VPC on parts inventory.

Thanks for the info guys, I don't mind installing and/or removing the fast bits if I end up leasing it and if I buy it, obviously that is less of an issue. I definitely want the performance steering wheel with the shift lights, that thing is sexy as f***.

I'd call your CA, if the car is still on the ship, good chance he can still add the MPerf parts.
I caught mine too late, so couldn't add. Dealer will install and got a slightly better price. |

I was on vacation and didn't get a chance to read this forum until now, the car has already landed and is in route to las vegas. I plan on doing the financing stuff tomorrow before the car arrives later in the week. I'm either going to use BMWFS or PenFed.

Do I just tell the CA to keep checking or are there certain things that cannot be installed when purchasing the vehicle? Thanks. |
