What's the best way to fix this?

Not sure how it happened. It’s noticeable from afar so I want to do something about it

Ouch. A little hard to tell from the picture but is the black mark sitting on top of the paint that a little compound rub can remove. If you broke through the paint then it will need to be painted. You can try a bumper repair place that specializes in plastic bumpers or else its a body shop.

It broke through the paint unfortunately.

Sorry, should’ve clarified

I share your pain. Usually I reverse-park everywhere but I was rushing trying to find parking to make a meeting and went nose-in about 3 inches too far last week. When I looked underneath to see the damage it was about the same as your car.

You have 3 options:

1) Touch up and hope it becomes unnoticeable.
2) Find a mobile painter to do a blow in. May be acceptable since it's the underside of the bumper.
3) Body shop. Repaint the affected area, blend, then re-clear the bumper.

Appriciate it. Which route did you end up going?

It's in such a spot that you can easily do it again 😉

Personal I would polish that and touch up.

A touch up in that position should be hard to see from any normal angle of looking at the car. That's certainly what I'd be trying first.

john2703 ,

I had a similar scrape on the corner of thecfront edge of my M340. I used light rubbing to smooth it out & then covered it with Dr Color Chip -- very easy to use. It's barely noticeable

Hope that helps

I did the same on my m340i front corner under the bumper hard to see but some of the yellow from concrete parking block transferred over and broke through the paint.

Some rubbing compound to smooth it out, then I cleaned it and prep it for touch up and it’s unnoticeable unless you are inches from it.

I didn’t worry about spending too much to fix it since I was throwing on a lip that would cover the scaring of the paint.
