335i Brakes: OEM vs RDA Rotors / EBC Pads??

Hi guys

Could you tell me about RDA rotors / EBC brake vs OEM?

I have major brake squeal on current brakes when stopping at slow speeds
(not sure what brand, not OEM).
The mechanic said OEM brakes probably wouldn't be this bad.

I don't want to have the same problem again.
Are RDA as good if not better than OEM & how about brake squeal?

Most likely your brake shoes are hitting the dust shield. Common on e9x. Adjust it, clean them and it should go away.. tends to happen from rust..

Without stealing the thread, my brakes are super rusty. This is on all 4 wheels. Is there an alternative solution in brake rotors that don't rust? Sorry OP.

I understand brake dust will create surface rust if not cleaned, but mine are really bad.

Thanks for the advice. Any DIY's I can read on this?

@Montye90 no worries. I've read that all rotors rust a little. Depends on climate also though.
What pads/rotors do you have?
I've also read the dimpled/slotted/drilled rotors will show rust more because the inner surfaces don't get cleaned by the the brake pads during braking.

I think they are all BMW factory items. Only bought the car for 3000km ago and it's done 75,000km. Was looking at Hopers thread, it's the centre cap hub thing that's really rusty. Will pull all the wheels off and give it a goodnight clean.

Good time of year for a DIY project (assuming you're on hols)

Just use a wire brush and remove the rust then paint them.

From my build thread:

As DR J said, only way to stop the hub rusting is to paint it.

I had my stock rotor hubs painted but it's not hard to DIY.

Could even do one hub per day as the prep can take a while, scrubbing the shit out of them with a wire brush, sand paper etc.

Also clean the back of the wheel it will look shitty too.

Thanks Dr and EB89, have some time off now with the recent birth of my second child. Got 5 weeks off, so hopefully will find some time to give it a clean and paint. (Everyone with 2+ kids will be "yeah right"!)

Thanks e36mmm. Bring the little guy home today. Just have to keep my daughter away from him. She loves him too much!
