Offset fitment difference E90 Vs E92

I know there were some people who purchased 19x9.5 et30 rear wheels for their E90s where some E92's had to purchase et33 because of rubbing issues.

Can someone enlighten me on the difference between E90s and E92s and how their fenders relate to how much of an offset they can fit?

The E90 have wider fenders and hence more room underneath. Thus it's able to run more aggressive offsets.

whats the most that you've seen able to be run on an E90 without rolling? assuming 19X9.5 with 265 tires?

On an E90 and even E92 you can run 19x10.5 ET40 in the back with no fender rolling. If you're talking about offset I believe the most aggressive one without fender rolling is about 27 (assuming we're not talking about running small tires either).

I know this goes for the rear but does this go for the front as well?

every car is different. One e90 can run the same setup as the other and will have different results.

Fitment is very dependent on the suspension you are/plan to run as is the tire choice you go with. This is from personal exp. with a progression to a more aggressive fitment.

H&R Sport
Rear: 19x9.5 et30 on 275 general exclaim UHP - no rub, no fender roll, within spec
Rear: 19x10 et25 on 265 toyo t1r - no rub, no fender roll, within spec

Kw v3 (significantly lower than H&R sport)
Rear: 19x9.5 et25 on 265 toyo t1r - no rub, light fender roll, within spec
Rear: 19x9.5 et15 on 265 toyo t1r - no rub, full fender roll, maxed camber (not for faint of heart)

The fronts on a 8.5 rim can run quite aggressive depending how flush you like it. Most wheels you see are around et30 to et40. I run a et22 which sits perfect with no rubbing. If you want to play it safe, i'd suggest going et25 to et30 on a 235 tire.

i mean in comparison with a coupe. I have an E90 and have my winter setup on now 17x8 et10 with 225/45/17 blizzaks. I used to rub a little before my alignment. Now I dont. I wonder if a coupe would experience more rubbing issues than sedan

is it safe to assume that if a set of wheels with an agressive offset fits on a coupe it will fit on a sedan?

That's affirmative. And evo119 divulged some very good info there. There are a lot of factors in fitting more aggressive offsets and in general, sedans will be able to fit more aggressive widths and offsets both front and rear.
