Random statistic I learned from this video. X5/X6/X7 sales combined only make up 1/9th of total BMW sales. But he presents it in such a way that it sounds like it happens so often "Every 9th BMW sold is an X5/X6/X7"

I wonder what the headlight upgrade is, when it will be available, and whether it'll be available in North America.

maybe a 3rd row of lights? Each row additional row should be accompanied by 3% off MSRP to compensate for mental distress.

No mention of Lasers.
Also even if they do it would still be the underpowered garbage they throw at us here in NA. I know it's not their choice but one could have helped push the regulations ahead of the LCI update.

Every 9th in units sold, but in terms of sales $$$ the percentage will be higher, given X5/6/7 are towards the top end within BMW. I don’t know if those numbers are publicly available, but could be 20 to 30% of sales then?

The X5/X7 are not any more expensive than their equivalent sedan counterparts (in fact the sedan counterparts are pricier). I think in terms of total sales $ it'll correspond with volume and the x3 should be leading the way in both unit volume and $, at least for the US market.

So while the $ percentage may be higher as a result of higher prices compared to sales volumes, I'm not sure that it'll be significantly so.

But who knows... don't really have that statistic available.

Headlight upgrades will most likely be the crystal headlights that are offered on the 7 series.

The stat that surprises me when you do the full X Line-Up it accounts for 60% of 2021 US sales.

So after watching the video, things I like compared to my '22 X7:

• 23" wheels
• getting rid of the shifter
• the entire cockpit display

Things I didn't like:

• well, the obvious front end
• the nipples on the dashboard, I mean vent controls.

Yeah I think they're quoting global sales. Shows how SUV crazy the US is.

The X5 is a lot more expensive. Im considering the M550 and the X5 M50 and the X5 with similar equipment is 10k more than the M550i. Not sure about other models, but I know 5 series and X5 is a big price difference.

It seems to vary. If you compare the highest volume trim (x5 40i xdrive) to the 540i xdrive, they're nearly identical in price. If you compare 740i xdrive to the equivalent x7, the 740i is almost $15k more expensive.

It seems to be the opposite for the 7... in addition to what wtwo3 said about the 40, the X7 M50 is also roughly $10k cheaper than a similarly equipped 750.

Though on test drives I could definitely feel that BMW did some cost cutting on the X7... the 7 sedan just feels like a better place to be. A bit quieter, more leather (e.g. on the B pillar), more metallized buttons & trim (the X7 has a bunch of black plastic on the doors), better interior design/appearance overall, and the great ceramic controls instead of the garbage standard iDrive controls (this was the most surprising thing to me when test driving BMWs... $70k to $100k cars, yet (even with glass controls) the iDrive knob feels & sounds like a cheap plasticky mechanism, worse quality than the switchgear in my Honda Civic).

But the X7 leaves you with $10k more in your bank account which compensates for the deficiencies, imo it's a slightly better value than the 7. However, the back seats of the 7 not folding down makes it incredibly impractical... my Civic Coupe easily carried IKEA boxes for 95% of the furniture in my house, whereas the 7 would struggle with anything beyond the smallest items. Which made the X7 the better option for me, and I think also for the vast majority of people - better price & value, and much more practical.

Eh? Not sure about NA, but like for like (5er to X5), the SUVs are definitely more expensive in EU and other markets.

Pretty sure they carry a higher margin too.

Yeah I was speaking specifically about the NA market. Pricing seems to vary... in some cases sedan is pricier and in some cases SUV is pricier. Can't speak to margins.

But one thing we can reasonably assume.. the X5 40i represents the highest volume in sales of all of these cars. It's very similar in price to the sedan counterpart.
