Different climate control displays

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Just took delivery of my 2022 X7 and i realized the clinate control display looks different than my 2021 X7, both have cold weather package. The 2021 display looks much nicer. Did they change the display for 2022 or am i missing something?

Nope, BMW removed the full colored climate display in the builds within the last two months and replaced with the uni-colored one. Call it supply shortage or cost saving…

Looks cheap and dated. Unacceptable on a $100k car

Probably blew through remaining inventory of the color screens (I think only the 7/8 and related x’s had them) ahead of the iDrive 8 moving that to the main screen. So swapping out LED screen from the other models.

Unrelated but still... I just noticed that my IDrive controller no longer lets me use it as a touch type thing. Called the dealer to see if it was broken. Nope, he looked up the vin and said it was a deleted item on my build.

And you have a 2020??? That's odd it was deleted back then. I have it on my 2022 but never use it.

Did you just buy a MY2022? Some of the 2022 built after Jan 2022 were built with non-touch controllers.

Mine was built in April. The touch control was a delete but I had the full color temperature screen.

It must've happened right between our builds. I have a 4/27 build date and mine is color. I think you were a week or two after me if I recall.

iDrive controller is non-touchpad (6UX is on the build sheet, so no surprise)

If you had taken delivery of the non-HK one, the climate display most likely would've been colored. Would you rather have HK or colored climate display?

With the parts shortages this last year it was likely: get the same monochromatic screen as every other bmw or get no x7

Is your car a 40i or M50i?

My x40i is inbound with a build date in May so I'm assuming I'll have the cheap screen. But I was able to get the HK so I'll take that trade any day. Still kinda pathetic for a car at this price.
