I ordered my 40i last week and the dealer confirmed a week 19 production date. I called BMW Genius a day later, they confirmed the week 19 production week and they even told me my production would most likely start week 18 itself. However, this morning when I logged onto MyBMW account, my status went back from "Production Scheduled" to "Order Received". I called BMW Genius and they told me that all incoming orders were aggregated and my production will now be week 23. They said this is common where a dealer requests a particular slot, but it usually isn't accepted for that week. This is odd. I have ordered few other BMW's before and it has always been produced on or before the production week I initially received from the dealer. Just wanted to get all of your opinion/experiences on this. I reached out to dealer and they say it will definitely go into production on week 19. Very confusing!

Covid related part(s) constraint issues. Check with your dealer to make sure nothing was deleted from your build.

Sorry to hear. FWIW, my X7 production was scheduled for week 5 this year, then I discovered it got pushed back to week 9, but nobody notified me. Then it ended up getting produced in week 5. Honestly don't know why.

Thanks! The dealer is still telling me that it will be week 19, bcos thats what they asked for and BMW Genius says week 23. Fingers crossed!

I ordered a 4.0 X7 yesterday and was told the build week was 19. I hope it does not get pushed to 23.

I ordered just over two weeks ago (4/9), and I also have a week 19 build week...

I placed an order for a bmw X7 last week and dealer informed me the build would be a week 19 build but I called BMW Genius and they told me my build is a week 22 build. I don't know why everyone's build is getting pushed back. It could be due to COVID, but I really hope it still will be a week 19 build instead of what BMW Genius told me. Does anyone's X7 show they are scheduled for production or started production for either week 18/19 builds?

It could also be the global semiconductor chip shortage going on that's impacting the auto industry.

I was told by the genius rep that the Harman Kardon systems are delayed and thats what is pushing back the build dates. I assume all of you went with the premium or executive package?

Mine is in "scheduled for production" and the week 19 build estimate was from the Genius - if things are getting pushed back, I guess my "original" estimate was probably like week 17 or something. I'm just hoping to get it before Memorial Day weekend - we were going to break in the new wheels for a family trip up to Newport! I'll be so annoyed if I'm putzing around in a Chevy Impala rental for that weekend

I ordered last week. Mine was in status 112 for week 19 this morning. But I changed my mind for several options. Now it's scheduled for week 21.

I placed my order on March 22nd and I was told it would go into production week 16. I made one change to the wood trim and about two weeks later they pushed me to week 17. Not sure if the trim change pushed my production week or if it is the Harmon sound system. When I checked the status online last Monday it changed to Production Begins. It has been in that status for a week. I called and check the production date last Friday and the phone system tells me that the car will be built this Wednesday. 🤞🏻

I checked the status online this morning and the exterior body has been assembled, it's been in and out of the paint booth and now it's entering the assembly line. It looks like the date the automated system gave me when I called the 800 Genius number is accurate.

This is great to know! When they give you a production week, thats the week the production is supposed to end, not start? Bcos it looks like it can take 8-12 days from start of exterior body assembly to final quality check

It looks like they are giving you the week, or when calling the Genius line, the actual day it will be completed by. I noticed it went into Production Begins status a week prior to it actually starting the assembly process. I thought that it might be built a week earlier, but it sat in Production Begins for 6 business days.

FWIW - update - earlier this week, the genius told me my build would "begin production the week of May 10, 2021 (week 19)," and as of today (which I guess is end of week 17) it is showing up in the tracker as "production begins" with an assigned VIN. We'll see where it goes from here, but hopefully these delays are getting resolved quickly, and they are just under-promising / over-delivering.

Mine was scheduled for production week 21 and as of this morning it's out of production queue or the car is no longer scheduled for production. It makes no sense to me whatsoever. Genius is now telling me that yes it was scheduled to start production around week 21, but now the order doesn't not have a production week and no information on when the car will be complete. They want me to contact the dealer and dealer tells me not to worry. They say it will still go into production the week 19. Has this happened to anyone of you?

My salesperson messaged me earlier and said my 21 build isn't possible any longer and I would have to switch to a 22. Due to BMW stopping production on the 21s.

Our third child is due September so I'm worried the car won't get delivered in time.

Does anyone know when production starts on the 22?
