Reposting here for mitch57 and X7 forum members.

Since the G05 forms the basis for the G07, below are the brakes, technical disc specs by model and options:

*Differences between G05 and G07 models are in bold:

X7 xDrive40i:
Fixed 4 piston front 348x36 + rear 345x24, lightweight ventilated

Towing package or MY19-20 xDrive50i:
Fixed 4 piston front 374x36 + rear 370x24, lightweight ventilated

X7 xDrive40i / MY19-20 xDrive 50i + option 2NH (Blue or MY21 Black):
Fixed 4 piston front 395x36 + rear 370x24, lightweight ventilated

X7 M50i, standard 2NH (Blue or MY21 Black):
Fixed 4 piston front 395x36 + rear 398x28, lightweight ventilated

TLDR;
X7 xDrive40i standard brakes uses same specs as X5 xDrive40i with 3rd row option: Fixed 4 piston front 348x36 + rear 345x24, lightweight ventilated

X7 xDrive40i with Towing package or MY19-20 xDrive50i uses same specs as X5 40i with Towing or MY19-20 X5 xDrive50i front calipers and discs but equivalent sized 2NH rear discs: Fixed 4 piston front 374x36 + rear 370x24, lightweight ventilated

X7 xDrive40i / MY19-20 xDrive50i with 2NH uses same specs as X5s optioned with 2NH M Sport brakes: Fixed 4 piston front 395x36 + rear 370x24, lightweight ventilated

X7 M50i are equipped with equivalent M Performance Brake Kit discs as standard without punched disc holes: Fixed 4 piston front 395x36 + rear 398x28, ventilated

Nice!! So what basically ALL x7's have the same calipers (less the paint or lack there of) just different size discs front and rear?

Now if only they could find a way for the brakes to not squeek so much.

So embarrassing that my car is the only one pulling in to the valet full of nice vehicles that whines like a pig being slaughtered.

No performance issues on my m-sport brakes, but the annoyance of that sound reminds me of an ex I used to have..... Great performance but the sound made during performance was such a turn off it ruins the experience.

Hopefully my relationship with the x will last longer than my relationship with the ex.

Aja? Mine have been quiet and squeak free since delivery and didn't bed my brakes... and I'm pretty rough on brakes

Nothing standard about the 4-piston Brembo calipers on these MY21 40i.

As I've outlined in my previous post in the G05 forums:
https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1795865

Variant A - Continental brakes with 348 x 30 front discs are NOT equipped on X7 models.

Variant B - Brembo 4-pistons are equipped on X5s (with 3rd row or towing) and X7s (standard or towing).

Variant C - Brembo 4-pistons are equipped on X5s and X7s optioned with 2NH.

FWIW, I have the M50i and have never, never had any squeaking whatsoever.

Obviously, others MMV.

I dont think my brakes squeak. I just hear a low friction rub sound when i slightly let go and rebreak. I also hear that noise when I turn my steering wheel in the parking lot. Brakes stop like a champ though, had to get used to them since I am used to coasting lol.

Unfortunately it happens so much to so many that it is "normal" if by definition it means common. I don't have any stats but I suspect there's a high%. When I go to the dealership, I hear it from many cars coming in from service. Not sure if the northeast weather, snow and salt have any impact.

Don't think it is normal. Just drove through winter in Michigan and still no squeaking at all. M50i.

These photos are a great comparison of the brake rotor size variants! One could easily upgrade once the rotor life is up

Are the rear 4-piston too?

I am new to G07 (picked up a used MY19 50i) and curious if the rear brakes are also 4-pistons? The calipers seem to be on the small size to be 4 piston?

(btw, thanks for the post)
