Tow Hitch install
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I am searching for pre-lci g07 x7 xdrive40 with M-sport package to replace my aging e70, and seeing that many M-sport equipped x7s do not come with a factory tow hitch. I reached out to the popular BMW parts outlet (bmwparts.com) and their parts mngr said that the BMW makes the retrofit kit (part 51-12-9-850-003) but it can only be retrofitter on cars with production dates up to 08/2020. I happen to be looking for 2021-2022 model years so wondering if anyone is aware of any other options? |

Do a search for stralthbhitch. Many have posted about retro fitting it. Here is one of many threads with it.

Steal hitch is max $2500 with install and active towing installed. Even if dealer pricing came down on parts, still 2x. |

I have installed an aftermarket tow hitch on my 2021 x7 40i. My experience is described in this thread on the 2nd page https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1824537
I use it to carry my bikes, so no towing. If you want to tow, then coding will be required on top of both hitch and wire harness installations. Not every indy shop wants to do it, and going to a dealer would definitely be expensive. Let me know if you have any questions. |

Consider expanding your car search wider. One of my local dealers specs out the trailer hitch on every lot car they order, so if you can find one of those areas you'll have a better chance of finding one equipped from factory.
