This is going to be different than when I had my M550i built as it was coming from Germany. The X7 is made in South Carolina, correct?

Now I know there have been some delays with parts, etc.....but best case scenario...how long is it taking from when it goes into production to when you were driving it home?

According to the My BMW website my car began production last Monday, the 19th. As of yesterday afternoon it says it is awaiting carrier assignment. My production week got pushed 2 weeks from the initial week that they gave me, but I also made a change to the wood trim a few weeks before production was supposed to begin. Not sure if that contributed to the delay.

You are looking at delivery in about 5 weeks from the order date, sometimes sooner if the dealer used an allocation that already had a build date assigned.

My dealer already had a build date so from order to me driving off with my new X7 was exactly 6 weeks

I ordered mine the last weekend in February, it finished building on something like Apr 9th.

But.... going to the west coast they put it on a train to KC, where it got xferred to another train, which doesn't get to Seattle to Tuesday May 4th.

So 5 weeks to get built, sure, but maybe another 4 to ship depending on where you live (granted Seattle is about as far as you can get).

I started a spreadsheet back when I first ordered mine, off of the actual order date/start date:

https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1803200

Started with build date because different dealers can have wildly different build allocations. The dealers I was dealing with had allocations for anything from a couple weeks out to "unknown". As I understand it, corporate award allocations to dealers based on their prior years' sales volumes, so high volume dealers will have more supply.

Has anyone placed an ordered this month? I was told today when I left my deposit I could be looking at 22 model year. They may be finishing up production for the 21s.

I finalized my order Apr 8. 2021 model year. Arrived at dealer yesterday, but they can’t have it ready for me until Monday.

MY2021 will continue production until probably August 2021, when MY2022 production will likely start. Still lots of time to get a MY2021 for those who want, although Alpina allocations are running out. Don't know what BMW will do with MY2022. Historically, new model years have added new features, buy MY2021 was a definite setback with features and options being removed.

My sales person told me today they can't process my build due to BMW stopping MY21 models and now I have to switch to MY22. Our third child is due in September so I was worried it won't be done in time.

Doesn't look like there is going to be much of any difference between 21 vs 22. BMW is not going to stop production just because of mining to 22 version, so just go with wherever you can order now.

Yeah, I just saw your post in the other thread. Man, I really feel for you and everybody else this is affecting. I haven't seen an official news report yet about X7 and other BMW production, but it's officially started with Minis. See report here:
