My Son Finally Pulled the Trigger After Looking at the Lexis IS

Even though I am a BMW Enthusiast, my son thought the Lexis IS would be a better choice for him and his budget. After the test drive with the Lexis IS 350 and seeing the car in person he decided on the BMW 330. He accepted my offer to do European Delivery with me picking the car up in Munich. The car was ordered on Monday, November 7, my birthday, for pick up in Munich on December 19. I thought that was pretty quick. Here is my itenary. Saturday night, 9 pm leave Chicago. After changing planes in London arrive in Munich at 3:45pm Sunday. Beer and sauerbratten at my favorite beer garden. Monday 9 am pick up the car. Then I am off to take some quick photographs of a cool building. Drop the car off off at Harms, the shipping company. Cab to to the airport. Flight leaves Monday, December 19, afternoon at 3pm. Arrive back in Chicago Monday evening at 5:15 pm. This is my third Euro Delivery. In the past my wife and I would typically would stay 2 1/2 weeks. This is a one night in Europe trip because my son waited so long to decide and his lease was up on his previous ride and Christmas was later in the week. I thought that it was pretty cool that I did this all in 2 days. European Delivery is a great deal and generally you get a great vacation at the same time.

He got the car from Kelly Ho at Pacific BMW in suburban LA. Kelly gave us a great price and great service.

Nice to read another story about a father who made a sacrifice(sp?) for his son.

Actually I just wanted him to spend his car budget dollars well. He is leasing the car. The residual value is based upon USMSRP. The depreciation that he is buying with his 12,000 miles per year lease is only $3839 per year plus interest, tax and misc California fees. That seems too low. I should check my math. BMW bases the residual value at 64% of USMSRP based for a 3 year/12,000 miles per year lease. We paid $800 over Euro Delivery Dealer Invoice. We are leasing the car initially in my name with him as the co-aplicant. I get a $500 refund from BMW Car Club of America which we are applying to the down payment. It is a truly great deal for my son.
