Winter wheels & tires availability

I'm planning to buy a winter wheels & tires set and BMW doesn't currently offer one for sale. A BMW dealer told me the winter sets should be available around September - October and they usually sell fast. Is that how it typically works?

I noticed some 3rd party BMW shops have very limited stock, but those look like leftovers from previous years. They also charge shipping costs, while BMW dealers don't when doing local pickup.

Can somebody share their experience buying winter wheels & tires? Did you order them from BMW or from a 3rd party shop?

Thank you in advance!

Look for a local set of used X7 wheels 21 or 22 square setup, preferably good condition with little tread left on the tires, order your preference of snow tire and have them mounted.

Think the BMW winter setup is 1 choice of the snow tire and cost is like $4-5k.

snow tires start being stocked around sept, and once they are gone, they're gone for the season.
i went full aftermarket.
Vredestein Wintrac Pro in 275/50-20
Drag DR76 20X9.5 ET 20
HUF sensors
came out to about 2200 including the mount and balance. fit was perfect, no centering rings needed.

winter (usually) trashes rims in the NE, so i went with alot of sidewall and inexpensive rims.

Can you please post some pictures with the wheels and tires mounted? The links to the shops you bought everything from would be great as well.

Thank you!

Hi,
I live in Nashville where it doesn’t get too cold . I will be selling the 21” wheels/tires to move up to the 22” wheels. If you have any interest in that. Here is actually wheelset…

I echo Orient330iNYC -- do yourself a favor and go with a set of 20" wheels and tires. I installed the same DR76 wheels and went with Michelin CC2's, an all season tire with 2PMSF snow traction rating (even though I winter store my X7). Tires in 20" are widely available in many makes, models, applications and competitive pricing. I've had my testosterone checked several times since and downsizing to 20" wheels hasn't had any side effects.
