My thoughts exactly. All of these "I got 2k off" comments don't mention if its a BMW incentive (military, loyalty, etc) or the dealer just coming down from MSRP.

Let's assume someone is not eligible for any incentives. Is MSRP what they should expect to pay?

I got 1500 off my M50i last week and got 4k above the highest offer for my 2 trades... so i am happy given current conditions. It was not so long ago (summer of last year) when I got 8.5 % on the 330e that I just traded.

That's great, perhaps I should further negotiate with my dealer.

This excludes loyalty. Loyalty is another $750. If you have military affiliation (e.g., USAA), you can get additional rebate.

The $2,800 I got is a discount to MSRP. After than I will get $750 in loyalty. So total will be $3,550.

No incentive or loyalty or anything else. The dealer just told me that if I order on the spot, they will give me $2,500 off MSRP. must be end of the month (Jun) sales pressure.

Curious if people are getting different amounts on M60i vs 40i, as I heard the M60i allocations are less.

I ordered a while back, before the economy completely tanked. MSRP minus whatever the monthly employee discount thing for third parties is ($750 for July). At the time, I was glad they weren't going above MSRP. As I agreed to that, I don't think I'm going to threaten to walk. I just sold my other car today and got like 30% more for it than KBB price, and that dealer had no cars on the lots and was desperate, they said demand hasn't quelled despite interest rates and overall economic situations. The backlog of purchases is still high. Honestly, I tried to buy a car about a year ago during the peak and threw in the towel, so at the time, I was happy to agree to MSRP minus the employee perks thing.

Dealers don't get paid until the car sells, not when is ordered. They probably just wanted to close the deal and move on to the next customer.

Passport BMW (MD) and BMW of Sterling. I just emailed them via the BMWUSA website and asked for discounts. Passport offered first and BMW of Sterling matched, which is closer to me and I had already ordered. Hope this helps.

For those who received a $2000~3000 discount off the MSRP, did you negotiate that before placing the order? I placed a $1000 deposit already and awaiting a delivery next week. Do I have any leverage here since I'll be losing that deposit if I refuse to purchase at MSRP (which I won't =p )?
