There is a lot of misinformation in this thread.

I'll make two definitive corrections:

1. There is no "second" traffic school. You are eligible provided have not attended traffic school to negate a citation within the last 12 months. The relevant date is the citation date, not the traffic school completion date.
2. Trial by Declaration does not waive your right to traffic school. You are still entitled to change your plea before the Court on the day of your trial de novo, provided you aren't a mess and annoy the judge. He/she has discretion to approve, or reject, your request.

Great people, shoot them a call and see if you can talk to Jason. He use to be pretty active on this forum as well. Say you got his info on Bimmerpost and I'm sure he will take care of you.

Was it CHP or local PD?
CHP fines aren't that bad, but a speeding ticket on local roads by PD is a few hundred.
If it's local PD, Trial by Declaration is totally worth a try. Hopefully the officer won't respond. If it's CHP, just pay up and do traffic school. They always respond to Trial by Delcaration.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I once did traffic school...question is, is $500 worth 8 hours of your Saturday?

I assume since this is your first ticket, your insurance wouldn't go up. It likely won't, but you'll be on probation...

Traffic ticket

If you pay traffic ticket, you will get points from the public on DMV record unless you attend traffic school. If the attorney allows you to attend traffic school and complete all the class, then your points will be hidden except the court.

I got a traffic atty with a very good record at scheduling and re-scheduling hearings to miss the cop. PM me if you want his #, in Calabasas area of Socal. I paid like $200 maybe $250, and he got it dismissed. It's like a 9/10 success rate afaik.
