Rear diffuser for x7 with tow package?

My X7 40i came with tow package and I don’t like the rear look of it. Is there a way to install a diffuser (like Maxon) to cover it?

Or do I need to replace the current rear bumper with the one without tow package and then install the diffuser?

Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

Could you post a pic of what it looks? Thinking about ordering it on a new one

Yeah that's pretty unattractive. They don't have a plastic cover for that?

The problem with BMW X5 and X7 with tow packages is that the surrounding area and trim is always body colored. So it looks worse on non-black X's.

Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi have it done right as their tow packages always have black trim and surrounding area panels.

My X7 is carbon black but still looks bad.

Has anybody done anything about it? I may have to call the bmw parts tomorrow to get this handled. My X5 has stealth hitch and when I don’t need it I remove it.

The stealth hitch is great, but the OEM hitch is preferred for me. I have the stealth hitch on my X5M and my wife's GLS. My issue with the stealth hitch is how low it is because it has to run under the bumper and how much it sticks out - a bit too much in the X5M and not enough on the GLS. Again, I'm thankful that stealth has a good solution, but I wish I could have a factor hitch. I'm getting one on the '23 X7 that will replace the GLS.

Can you post a pic of the stealth hitch on the x5m?

Nope. No part from BMW to cover it.
I'll see if a local shop can make some clip on.

There was a member on here that covered the tow with one of the body kit diffuser. I think any of the common diffusers should cover it up.

My mistake. Looks like only the Renegade kit covers up the tow hitch.

I'm out of the country, but there is a decent pic on the stealth site in the reviews.

Obviously a personal preference (hence this thread) but I love the rugged looks that the factory tow hitch brings. Definitely would not want to hide it in any way.

Sorry for the delay, but I just reinstalled the receiver and moved the rack over for a trip. You can see it compared to my non-lifted FJ. Note that I have a swing arm on the FJ, so the receiver of the FJ is just below the receiver of the swing arm. The bottom of the receiver opening of the stealth receiver is about 12.5 inches off the ground. The stealth receiver also sticker out past the bumper a good bit. Hope this helps.

Bringing this thread back to life, anyone have any other solutions to covering (then uncovering when needed) the OEM tow hitch? I want and need mine but don't love the look.

The only solution I know of is the Renegade rear diffuser with the removable tow hitch cover. That, however, is $2700 shipped to me...

Would anyone be able to provide the part number for the factory rear diffuser, without the tow hitch opening, for an M Sport bumper (M50i)?

I'm about to remove my OEM setup and put a regular diffuser back on the rear bumper. I'd like the potential utility of the hitch but my GLE has one anyways (and it looks pretty damn good for the record)...

I think it may be more work than it's worth. It looks like you need both #1 and #2 from the parts diagram, and they only come primed so you'll also need to get them painted.

Even a base Chevy tahoe/suburban has a nice color match plastic cover to hide the hitch

Damn you are correct... welp, I'll report back with pics of a blacked out Future Designs rear diffuser shortly as that's absolutely the cheapest route I can find at the moment (which will end up being 2k installed)...

Oh well, it looks pretty sweet anyway so I'll take it!

I just saw one of these today and they are pretty cool. Too bad BMW doesn't have a solution like this!
