Hello,

Craziest thing just happened. While backing out our '21 M50, we heard some awful grinding noise, almost like a lawnmower. We didn't know at the time but the cooling fan eventually pierced through the radiator and the fluid begin the leak.

The car is at the dealership at the moment and they are saying that our cooling fan broke off and hit the radiator causing extensive damage.... about $5K to be exact with labor. The car's powertrain warranty ended just 14 days ago!

Anyone heard of this issue? I quickly read something in G05 forum with someone with similar issue.

1. Others seemed to note potential engine mount issues that puts cooling fan out of alignment.

2. We didn't hit anything on the road but we did just get an oil change done at the dealership noting no issues just a couple weeks ago.

i would ask them if bmw will goodwill the repair since the warranty ended so recently.

Especially since you were just in there for an oil change and they didn't note any issues.

Absolutely. We have full service history on file with this dealership and we are hoping for some goodwill here. BMW was kind enough to tow under “warranty” even though they knew it had expired a couple weeks ago.

Quick update - BMW agreed to cover under warranty! I can’t believe it but couldn’t have done this without Orient’s reminder to ask. Big thank you everyone!
