Thanks for sharing your extended warranty experience . Do you mind share your sales person's contact as well? My x7 is coming soon and would like to add extended warranty on it.
It's gonna be a family car, so my wife will use it as family hauler in town and occasionally road trip. We are thinking longer year/ less mileage type of warranty.
Another general question: I don't have to buy warranty from my dealer, do I? My understanding is: as long as car is still in original factory warranty, I can add on from any authorized dealer.

That sounds like the Care+ Maintenance plan as Skyrider mentions, it's not warranty related and not for an extended term, it just adds brakes, wipers (and clutch), to the normal Care Maintenance plan that comes with any new BMW. I've negotiated this down to $400 on my last two cars, and it's definitely worth it at that price. I'm usually due for at last a set of rear brakes by 30,000 miles, and they'll typically replace the fronts as well, but getting a free pair of wipers once a year just about covers that adjusted cost even if you don't do the brakes.

As far as who to contact, get in touch with your SA, they should be happy (and be able to benefit) from it.

I received my X7 40i on Friday and I purchased 7years/100.000K extended warranty during the loan application. Full coverage from EasyCare and the sales person indicated that it covers air suspension as well. It cost me $6300 and added to the loan with a 2.7% rate. Do you think it is worth buying? I just bought it because it is added to the loan at this rate. I have time to cancel and considering option.

That seems a little high for a non OEM contract.

For comparison, I paid $1,746 for a 7 year 75k mile extended warranty. Covers air suspension as well.

The 3rd party is FESC. But It was purchased from my dealer and the dealer handles all claims paperwork. I just pay my $200 deductible per repair and leave the rest to the dealer and FESC to handle.

You paid about $2k over what I can get the same coverage ("exclusionary coverage") for and will pay ~$350 of interest over the next 4 years by rolling that into the loan while the factory coverage is in play (assuming you don't go over on miles). I'd reframe as you bought an additional 3 years, 50k miles for ~$6650 give or take interest charge. I'd cancel it for a full refund towards your principal balance.

Pretty lousy reviews for that company. Only so many companies have a good reputation with high line european cars when it comes time to pay a claim... I would check your contract to see what coverage was actually printed -- there is too expensive to be fair, and too cheap to be a contract that will pay a claim, and I think you landed on the too cheap side.

Saw the reviews before purchase and a lot has to do with the claims process. Since my dealer handles the claims directly with them, I don't have to get involved.

I did see a side by side comparison of coverage between the FESC and BMW OEM policy and they were almost identical. Main benefit of the BMW OEM is no deductible/diag fee. FESC was $200 deductible per visit.

I don't expect to use it as I've had very good luck with European cars over the last 27+ years but figure for $17xx it was worth it. If one thing breaks and is repaired, then it paid for itself already.

I imagine the factory warranty is 4/50K? We don't drive much, and historically I've bought extended warranties at around the 3 year mark, once we've decided we're keeping the car for another few years. I assume I can still get a plan, albeit maybe more expensive down the road?

yes 2016 was the last year we got "wear and tear" up to 4 yrs or 50k. Now we get 1 oil change a year for 3 years. To bring it up to par to what it was like in 2016, for the x7 is 2099 plus dealer markup (if any)

its oil changes plus 1 filter (micro and engine) change and 1 brake fluid change.
so two oil changes, two filters and a brake fluid change.

in terms of extended warranty, im rolling the dice with geico mechanical break down insurance. covers everything but maintenance, wear items, and abuse. 250 deductible. cost is ~350 a year, needs to be added to my policy before the car is 15 months old/ 15K miles. they will cover up to 7 years 100K miles.
in theory it should cost ~2100-2450 for 7 years as you have to start coverage no later than 15 months depending on if you start it day 1 or wait a year.
its an exclusionary policy

Exclusions to this policy include regular maintenance services such as tune-ups, suspension alignment, wheel balancing, filters, lubrication, coolant and fluids, spark plugs, brake pads and linings, brake shoes, and tires. Also, breakdown repairs made necessary by intentional damage, corrosion, misuse, or improper maintenance are not covered. Mechanical Breakdown Insurance coverage is in excess of coverage provided by your manufacturer's warranty. Read the policy amendment for the complete terms and conditions of this coverage.

i asked them directly if all electrical and electronics systems are covered and they confirmed in writing that they are.
looks to be about comparable to the bmw platinum coverage

downside is, i have to keep using them as my insurance carrier, but i have been with them for 15 years without issue.
