So you get three oil changes? Is that basically inclusive of all scheduled maintenance. Obviously if you need new brakes, that’s wear and tear, but are there other needs like brake fluid, transmission fluid, etc? I’d assume it’s inclusive of everything BMW recommends?
We don’t drive a lot of miles, and we use a lot of engine braking and are generally easy on our brakes. What life are people getting out of brakes on these X7s? |

Where does all these plans fall for people who only drive 5-7k a year. I'm still looking at maintenance plans but not sure what to get if anything. I'll most likely get the extended warranty later and probably thru geico

brake fluid is time based, 3 years from the inservice date oil changes are time or cbs countdown based, with the last one 3 years from the inservice date. the thing with the oil changes, if you are hitting them based on time, you need to get the last one scheduled in before the 3 year anniversary to get it for free, not necessarily a year after oil change #2

so lets say you do year 1 oil change 1 week after your anniversary date, then year two a few days after the 1 year of change #1, #3 falls outside of the leeway and isnt covered.

I might do the same with my upcoming purchase, but will shop around and buy from a dealer that had good reviews for selling these on one of the forums. I also keep a good experienced/honest mechanic handy, but the convenience of a loaner when you don't have alternative commuting means is hard to beat, and you don't get that with a mechanic. |

Can you get the extended maintenance plan without purchasing the extended warranty? I was thinking about getting the extended maintenance plan including wear and tear stuff and make a decision on extended warranty later before factory warranty expires? Would this be a reasonable approach? Thanks in advance.

There are several companies out there that will offer a warranty on a used car. Google is your friend…..

Do you guys think the first three are worth it? I know I have asked this before but I only drive 5-7k per year so I'm not sure if I need the service maintenance plan. As for the extended warranty I maybe switch to Geico and go they there. On the fence about wheel and tire warranty.
I just picked up the car today and told the guy to give me some time to think since it's too much all at once and I want to do some homework |

Ok, Bigrahizzle you might want to put your flame suit on when getting ready for some of the replies you might get. I suspect there may be some "brutally honest" feedback regarding the info you posted on this purchase. So here is my brutally honest $.02….
The dealer is up selling the CRAP out of you on things you either don't need or can get someplace else with the same quality and a better price. Starting with the extra warranties, including the tire warranty, I say pass. Based on how much you say you drive, the probability of you needing them seems very low. As for the extra maintenance plan (that includes a few brake changes), you don't drive enough to make it worth it IMHO. But even if you did need a brake job, they are not that expensive considering you can afford an X7 in the first place (but I get the fact that no one likes a car repair bill regardless of income bracket - I am no different ). As far as all that other stuff like dent repair, key replacement, PPF, etc - dump all of that crap. While it would suck to loose a key as they are expensive to replace - when is the last time that happened to you? And dent repair? Why pay up front for something you may never need, and if you ever do need it, you can get it at a substantially cheaper price if/when the time comes. As far as the tint and PPF are concerned, the dealer just contracts out those services to a local shop (and up charges you for it). Do a bit of research in your area (you can use the regional forums here as well) to find out about good tint and PPF shops in your area. And what is that Cilajet crap, a ceramic coating? It doesn't specifically say it is a ceramic coating (it says sealant, which is much different) and even the best ceramic coatings on the market don't last up to ten years. And all coatings require maintenance (i.e. routine washing at least a few times a month, and not at automatic car washes either) to help them last. As far as LoJack is concerned, BMW already has this security/vehicle finding tech built into the X7 (and all BMWs) with BMW Assist that is included for the first 3yrs/36k miles IIRC - and does not cost much to continue the service once the initial included period is over. I know the "lure" of rolling these things into your loan may make some financial sense depending on your financial situation and how you want to pay for your new X7. But you should not let the dealer pile a bunch of crap on to the price of your car that you either don't really need or you can get elsewhere for a much better price. These are classic dealer tactics to pad their profits. So if it were me, I would not pay for any of that crap, not even if they "discount" it a bit. But again, just my $.02…. Good Luck!

all of the warranties you can purchase as long as you are still covered under the factory warranty. you have 3 years to decide for the maintenance, and 4 years for the warranty.
all of the other stuff is horribly overpriced. tint, xpel will only sell through their authorized dealers and there's exclusivity agreements, so its not going to be hard to find out who they use. there will be only one authorized dealer within X distance. https://www.xpel.com/clearbra-instal...rginia/fairfax pretty sure thats who they use for tint and ppf. i would read their reviews and contact them directly. in NYC a high end ceramic tint on all windows is under 1K and thats including the pano roof.
