Good lord. I've been on here since the early E92 days, and man things have changed.

If you don't like the barf emoji, perhaps it shouldn't be available.
Agreed! The mods are going apeshit with the censorship lately. What gives?

Yes - the M cars have launch control deactivated until the first break in oil change at 1200miles as recommended in the manual, but aside from launch control not active there is NO restriction on power delivery of the engine.

Maybe you meant to say you're getting a 100% of the power but can't use launch control yet?

EDIT: Looking at the 2023 X7 manual, the instructions there are identical to my M4 manual. This states that launch control cannot be used until 1200mile break in, when M vehicles/S-engines are required to have a break in oil change and the dealer unlocks launch control. However, I am going to be bold here and say that the idea of a software restricted power delivery (meaning a different ECU mapping for the first 1200miles) is not accurate. The engine can handle 100% of its power although it isn't recommended at that early stage.
Several owners have confirmed the 310 mile break in period. Prevents you from going over 4500 rpm.

I promise, it is limited to 75% power for 310 miles, it reminds you every time you start, stop, and usually mid- drive…I wish I was making it up but I am not. When we drove over the 310 mile mark it opened right up and even flashes a message confirming….

Amazing! Technology these days… now I see a ton of issues with this tech too. Seems like they'd be able to even remotely up and down the HP/TQ/RPM numbers of all engine if they wanted too…

Maybe future power upgrades buyable directly from BMW via over the air update?

By the way, this is also something that BMW mottorad implements on some of their bikes - I own a BMW S1000RR and an M1000RR and both bikes were limited to 9000 RPM for first 600 miles; you had to take back to dealer for first oil change ($350) to get them unlocked. BMW has this break in mindset on their higher performance motors. My '21 M8 competition was not software limited but it was strongly suggested by the dealer and by all documentation to take it easy until 1200 miles and you brought it in for first service…

Makes total sense. Unless you’re a teenage boy or an incel the same approach applies to more organic experiences. Consider the first few miles dinner and a movie.

I'm drawn to the M-sport front end pre and post LCI over the base, regardless of color.
