The stock exhaust is too quiet for me.

The stock exhaust tips or lack there of bother me..

Black color fake outer tips, with cheap looking silver insides and short small pipes in the back mehhh

Looking for options online but can't find any.. is this LCI X7 M60i too new still?

OR

The X7 is just not a popular model for aftermarket goodies?

I appreciate your post.

I went to see a 40i msport with msport exhaust (option 1ma) from the msport professional and was underwhelmed by the sound.

I also listened to a luxury line. Sounded almost the same. Just as muted .

I said maybe the v8 is the sweet spot . So if you find it quiet then maybe it is just that the x7 is meant to be like that. A quiet luxury ride. Makes it hard justifying the price of the v8 for me .

A lot of the V8 is pumped into the cabin via speakers (Bower Wilkins) lol…

Looking for exhaust options with better exhaust tips and a little more growl..

Basically both due to being a new model and a model that does not have a lot of aftermarket performance modification support due to owner demographics. There is little to nothing out there for any model/year X7…. I believe there may be some companies in Europe that make an aftermarket option. But you are most likely looking at a complete custom exhaust system if you want a different sound.

One other option is an aftermarket valve controller from a company called CG Precision:

https://www.cgprecision.com

One of the reasons the V8's (and I6's for that matter) are very quiet is that the exhaust valves are closed at engine startup and during light cruising. They typically don't open up unless you are in Sport (or Sport+) mode AND cruising at faster speeds. This valve controller gives you full control over your exhaust valves. I bought this for my M3 and it transformed the sound of my stock exhaust (to me) as I did not want an aftermarket exhaust, just a slightly louder and deeper exhaust note (I keep the exhaust valves open all of the time, even at cold start).

I don't believe there is a specific X7 option on their site. However, the exhaust valve control is the same among many BMW models (typically is based on the engine). So there is most likely a compatible kit that is used on another BMW model which they sell. But you should obviously talk to them first.

But then, the X7 is built like a coffin so even an upgraded exhaust (or stock with a valve controller) will still sound quiet unless you drive around with you windows down…..

I really want to find a aftermarket exhaust solution.

A decent muffler shop should be able to bypass the rear resonator which will give you a definite increase in sound.

Other alternative is to somehow source an XB7 exhaust as it sounds bad ass right from the factory.

*just noticed I redirected this thread but… why create a new one, just added a solution

I have been looking as well. Just picked up a 2023 M60i.

I found that GThaus meisterschaft has an exhaust option and has a entire mid section option as well.

They aren’t cheap but I run one on my 1M and it’s my favorite exhaust I’ve ever run. The quality of the welds and bends are fantastic.

LOL I was gonna say buy an XB7 its part of the reason I ordered an XB7. Im coming from a G63 so like a bit of a growl!
Turning 50 it's time I go for something more comfortable than the G63 and the XB7 is the best option out there in my mind for what I need.
I did not like the ride on the GLS 580 and couldn't find a GLS63 to test drive, I found the ride harsh on Michigan roads in the GLS580 and am pretty sure the GLS63 would only be harsher.

I am also looking for more volume and presence from my X60 ('24 when it shows up). I usually go with "high end" exhaust but steering towards a more economical solution. Has anyone with a V8 removed first the resonator (in lieu of X or straight pipe) and secondly remove the mufflers? I know this is highly subjective, but if this gives a good sound I may pursue. Please share if anyone has used a torch to remedy the exhaust.

Coming from a full exhaust on my 6.2L Denali and full Renntech in my S63, the m60i is too quiet for me.

I've been toying with the idea of removing the resonator or going with djrabbi system he has. It looks and sounds really nice, I've just had some competing priorities as of late. Either way the m60i is getting some exhaust love soon.

I make X7 exhaust and sold a few to members on here but mostly FB users. It is much louder than stock by 30-40% but not too loud. My shop who installed mine was very impressed with it since they do many high-end and celebrity cars. We work hand in hand out here in NC.

Total full catback is $2250shipped

I did this with my E92 M3. They dropped the muffler, cut open the top, essentially bypassed everything and put it back. Looked completely stock but completely changed the sound.

I don't have a comparison of an M60 yet. No one pulling the trigger to buy one. Once there is, I can post it.

M50 is just the perfect amount of roar for this SUV. I have videos on youtube

My 2021 M50i sounded way better than my new M60i. Dealership claims the mild hybrid addition is the cause of the more muted sound. That explanation is sketchy to me.

Not recommended to put any tips on these exhaust unless you are doing a diffuser.

Delete the resonator and replace with an Xpipe. Delete the rear so called sport exhaust muffler and use two straight through mufflers and quad exhaust tips.

SuperSprint has multiple full cat back or muffler only options for the M60i.

I would just go to a custom muffler shop. All these vendors with their exhaust builds is just crazy expensive. Resonator delete with valves opened should be pretty noticeable.
