One idea is to jack up the front right of the car to push fluid to the fill plug, then drop jack to fill it. Might get another 1-200ml?

It’s easy so I’ll keep sucking and filling each oil change (5k) and reset adaptions

Ooooh, I like that idea. I was on a two post lift so we never thought of that. Could have used the smaller adapters on the driver side.

Same here… although after changing the 300mls in the transfer case the skipping I was experiencing at low speeds has seems to stop 😀

Can the part #'s for the front and rear diff fluid get posted up. I've plan on doing the diffs soon and see conflicting info. From what I can gather they are 2 different part #'s. Thank you,

FCP has them listed accurately if you filter them down my front or rear differential.
There is also a YouTube video that shows the part numbers when he did exchanges.

If I recall correctly, the front takes the G2 where the rear takes the G3.

On FCP, '22 X7 M50 oils aren't listed but I'm assuming the '21 diffs are the same. For '21 it says G2 front and G4 rear. But I'd hate to assume...

The m50 may have a different rear differential and thus a different fluid. G2 is front. I saw m’s have a rear diff service interval so that could ring true.

I'm about to, all 3 services. I've literally called 6 mechanics locally and they're all bidding above BMW of Warwick or not bidding at all. Probably be around $1600 or so total and honestly I don't care anymore, I'm done chasing quotes and don't have time...

It’s all super easy to do yourself if your capable to unscrew a bolt and use a suction pump.

I think the transfer case was the most challenging given access. The front differential fill plug is also a PITA but doable.

Anyway, it’s like $300 in tools and fluids. No biggie compared to $1,600 quote you got.

I know, but too scary given how critical these components are. I would also need and want to go super slow if I did it myself to make sure it was perfect, which I don't have time for with 2 kids under 2... can barely keep the dishes done

The good, is whatever work BMW does has warranty now.

The bad, it is most costly.

Conclusion, if a good indy that is experience with any car can do this for less i would prob go that route first.

Literally fill it until it spills out. Cap it and you’re done. Pretty hard to mess up unless you use the wrong fluid or don’t put the plug back in.

I wondered about this, thanks for clarifying! Maybe I'll tackle it next time pending I keep this baby long term like I intend.

The good news is BMW is hooking me up and charging just under $1200 for all 3 services (front and rear diff and transfer case).

Dealer did Transfer Case Fluid flush on my 2020 CPO X7 M50i the total was $594 after taxes, so far driven 70 miles and haven't noticed it.

Did the dealer recommend changing the oil instead of replacing the whole transfer case?

I’m asking because I recently took my car to have it diagnosed and came with needing a new transfer case. They didn’t mention anything about the oil. Does it depend on how bad the transfer case is? Going to two Indy shops this week for a second opinion.

Would much rather prefer changing the oil than replacing the transfer case since is considerably cheaper and since I’m out of warranty.

Oil is $35. Worth a try. You won’t be able to suck it all out so pull out what you can, drive 10 miles, do it again x3. Let us know your findings. Fairly easy project.

Since the fluid appears to be used across the board on multiple models…here’s some screen shots from realoem.com (online part database site). Although these sites have stopped updating since the end of 2019/early 2020 model years…you can still use this site to pull up part nbrs then call your local BMW dealership’s parts department to VERIFY if your BMW uses the same part, or if the part number has been succeeded by a new part number.

Here’s the transfer case, front diff, and rear diff info:
