2025 X7 Engine Auto Stop/Start

Hey All,

Just picked up my 2025 X7 today. Question regarding the engine auto stop/start feature. I can't figure out how to turn it off assuming it is even possible. I thought the 2024 had a button to disable it but I don't see that on the 2025. Did they get rid of that option to turn it off? If so, that sucks because I hate it when the engine cuts on and off at seemingly every stop.

Thanks in advance!

No way to turn it off in the menus or programming. Jn sport drive mode, it doesn’t turn off the engine

The button to disable ASS was removed in 2022.
The ability to remember the last ASS setting in pre 2022 was removed in the 03/2023 Idrive update.

Only way to disable it now is to put in sport mode.

ASS should be a lot smoother and almost not noticeable with the 48v mild hybrid setup.

While my XB7 was in the shop being repaired.....they gave me a loaner X5, which has the switch gear shifter, which is what most of the LCI G07's have too.

Got really used to switching between sport and non-sport, right before a stop over 3 weeks with the loaner.

Now that I have my '24 XB7 back, it's such a pain to have the gear shift knob back....that requires the whole shifter to moved to the left...

Might consider changing out the shifter to the switch version, as show in the last picture, for for the ease of "active-disabling" ASS.

Don't get me started on this. Lol. I actually traded my 2024 X7 M60i in because it pissed me off that much. Along with the V8 was just over kill for how we were using vehicle. Fast forward and I recently traded in the X5 50e, which I loved the powertrain, on a 2025 X7 40i. Lol. Yes I'm nuts. Went back to X7 for the smoother and quieter ride. Even though the start stop is going to drive me crazy at times. I will say that it's not quite as intrusive in my opinion as with V8. The 6cyl is a little smoother.

There are two ways to disable. Either put in sport mode or my preferred way is to press the traction control button and select traction. This will disable the start stop without having to be in sport mode. Only downside is if you turn on assisted driving, it will re-engage the traction control and go back to start stop. But that's OK, because I only want start/stop off in city driving.

crackerjack15 , good to know....

I just realized that the low-profile switch gear shifter doesn't support "manual" (aka steering wheel paddle shifting), so won't be changing out the gear shifter as I mentioned in my previous post......

It supports paddle shifting. I have paddles on my 2025 40i. You simply pull back a second time on the little paddle, when in drive, and it enters sport mode.

Maybe it was added in a software update, but I just picked up my 2025 x7 and Auto Stop/Start can be turned off in the shortcut options by pulling down on the homesceeen. Top right button.

07.2024.xx adds the feature.

Does the new Auto Stop/Start Deactivation setting work with voice commands? I haven't received the OTA update yet, so am curious.

Anything else in the 2407 update?
Does BMW publish a change log?
I am specifically interested if they finally allow the widgets to be moved across the screen and selection of which widgets we want to see.

Why do some people have the option to turn off auto/start stop and others don’t? Is this feature only available on the 2025 models?

Yes, I have iDrive 8 and no auto start / stop feature is available. I believe only iDrive 8.5 has received this feature with this update.
