Replacement Tires

Hey all.

Wanted to get some feedback on tires people are running. I have a 2023 X7 and the original Continentals are toast.

I think the ride quality and road noise (lack thereof) are a great fit for this car, but they are garbage in the snow. I don’t plan on forging snow banks but I will drive on snow covered roads frequently in the winter.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.

DWS06 are a good A/S alternative. Decent handling, quiet-ish, good all weather capability.

How many miles did you get from the OE Continentals?

Got 35k miles out of oe continental. My front right alignment is out and wore the outside of the tire, might have gone a few thousand more otherwise.

vredestein quatrac pro+ is way to go. One of the most well rounded tires around. Another option would be Yokohama Geolander cv

I saw those and they are very tempting at that price point. Major thing holding me back is I’ve never heard of the brand before.

Neither had i untill i was looking for snow tires for the x7. It was either the pirelli scorpion winter ( which i had used on my x3) or the wintrac pro. It was about half the cost. I will say i was pleasantly surprised, for a snow tire they perform very well in the wet and dry, and have good snow traction. Probably better than the scorpion winters.

I would use vredesteins again
They are a smaller company thats been around since the 1900s based out of the netherlands.
They didnt market in the us till recently

User reviews seem to be positive on the predecessor, the plus is an upgraded tread compound to provide better snow and wet traction.

Vreds have been around forever. I had them on our 1989 Honda Accord when we lived near Boulder, CO. Top tier brand of tire. Will consider when my X7 needs new tires.

Glad to hear they are established - just not in the US. Good to see good reviews and not just they are a good value.

Why o why did they have to go with staggered OEM wheels? Its not like with aftermarket staggered rims you get a nice lip in the back. I wish they were able to rotate and I could just go with a set of this vs getting dedicated winter set. Winter tires seems overkill for Long Island

if you have the stock 22s, you can do dws 06 plus in 275/40-22 and 315/35-22- stock sizes
not severe snow rated but should be ok in light snow.

I'm running them now as we havent had a harsh winter in recent memory- might not switch to my vred snows this year.
although there is a bonus to running big sidewalls, more cushion to the potholes that are going to sprout after the freezing weather sets in

Tire rack is finally showing two new options for 22” summers instead of the contis and p zeros. Michelin PS4 and Yokohamas are now available (not OE star though). Only took 6 years… I think I will try the PS4, I smoked my contis in less than 12k miles of family style driving.

This is what we have on my wife's X7. While snow is not a concern, there was no way I was letting my wife drive on summers only. I've done it before for several years, but if she ever had an issue, found out about summer rating....wooooowhee!

if they are summer tires, they're likely to wear out just as fast.
the PS4 SUV ZP treadwear warranty is only 10K for staggered tires.

the UTGQ of the yokohamas is 240, the PS4 is 220. cant compare across the brands directly but its going to be the same ballpark, possibly even worse.

That’s funny, when I checked last week the wear rating was showing as “TBD”, looks like they updated that. So slightly less than the contis and p zero; not getting any help there. I don’t particularly have any complaints with the contis other than the wear. They wore pretty evenly to about 4/32 then I started to get some feathering. Other than that they were pretty solid for me. Cost is pretty much a wash between the summer options. I’m switching to my winters here in the next month so I have a little time before I pull the trigger on new summers; maybe there will be more options by Spring…
