Hmmm...seeing will be believing. I'll be skeptical until I see some real designs...Adrian van Hooydonk was actaully the designer that gave us the original Bangle-butt e60/e65 5 & 7 series back in the early 2000s. Bangle got the blame since he was in charge, but Hooydonk was the designer that came up with that design (love it or hate it).

Happy to see that dude Domagoj Dukec who messed up all the recent BMW designs now has an irrelevant post (head of RR design). They basically marginalized him to leave. Hope we see some better BMW designs moving forward.

E60 was my favorite 5 series design! It was way ahead of its time.

That still means nothing to me, until I see the PI designer of the new split-headlights fired.

I see that nobody got fired, mostly current folks are promoted, replaced mostly by others who also got promoted from the same core team except couple new names : )

At first I didn't like the split headlights on the X7, but they've grown on me and I now prefer them to the pre-LCI. But the g80/82 grills have not. And the iX and XM I have a tough time looking at and can't see that changing. New M2 I'm not feeling either, maybe it will grow on me?

That first impression you had (before the car grew on you) --> This is the same way 98% of people on the road sees the vehicle now : ).
If I pay a ton of money for a nice car, I also care that it looks really nice in the eyes of others too.

If the car design has to grow on me, then it's not the one anyway. Anyway am saying that as someone myself stuck with a stupid ugly design. No doubt that the current design is not as good (majority of people would say so).

Just to correct what I previously wrote...Adrian Hooydunk is responsible for the e65 7 series design...the e60 5 series was designed by Davide Arcangeli. And again, some loved the designs, and some hated it...which appears to be similar to some of the current designs...some love them...and some don't.

Penned by Davide Arcangeli, under the guidance of BMW former chief of design, Chris Bangle, the E60 5 Series introduced the “flame surfacing” design technique. Upon its debut, the 5 Series design received mixed reviews, something relatively new to BMW. With unnatural, sharp cut lines, “Dame Edna” head lamps, and a bit of a heavy-looking rump, the E60 5 Series, 5th in the 5 Series lineage, proved a new style direction was possible both inside and out.

I forgot to mention that my phone charger isn't worth using, but to be fair, that uses space age technology

This whole crew has been lost in the sauce for a long time.

In my humble opinion their last tasteful design was the pre-lci G12 MSport.

(My 2019 below so I may be biased..)

Yes- hated them when they came out and still haven't grown to like them. It's not good when your design language is confused with Hyundai or GM.
