X7 23” Wheel Tire Options??

Hi All,

I asked this question in another thread, but can’t seem to find the information so I apologize if the information is already out there there.

I am new to posting on this forum, but I have been following along since the beginning of the stop sale in early August. I ordered an X7 which has been sitting at my dealership since August 8th.

I ordered the 23in wheels but I made a bit of an error by not looking into what the replacement tire situation looks like. When I get the car, I would like to get a set of all seasoned tires, but they seem difficult to find.

Has anybody been able to find all season tires for the 23 inch wheels? I would rather not have to get another set wheels for winter tires if possible.

so no good news... there are no all season tires in the stock size.

in the alpina XB7 sizes, 285/35/23 and 325/30/23, theres one, scorpion zero all season. its pricey, 4700 for a set.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes

the rears are technically too wide for the stock X7 rim, bmw uses a 10.5 in the rear vs alpina using 11".

also be aware any drivetrain issues, they will check for tire sizes and this can be grounds for denial.

Thank you!

So it seems the only option is to get another set of wheels and put winter tires on them.

yep. not sure what part of NY you are from, but around NYC, i dont think 23s would do very well with the potholes in the winter either.

I have all seasons now on my 22s, but usually switch to 20" snows for the added sidewall. usually. i might not if this winter is as mild as the ones past. summer tires have issues with just cold, forget about rain and snow when its below 40F

you'll save on tire wear (the stock 23" tires are much more expensive than the snows) and not trash the 23s on potholes, salt, and grit.
the 23s will probably only last for 12k miles or less.

for perspective, my snow tire setup was ~2400. which is about the cost of two of the 23" all seasons.

they just dont look as nice as the big rims, but then again, everything is going to be covered in salt and crap for the winter anyway. might as well have something more functional.

Yeah, I completly agree with you as I do live in NYC. I know for next time. Thank you for the help.

I think I am going to go with 20-22in wheels for the snow tires depending on what BMW OEM wheels I can source before it gets too cold.

for my winters i usually go aftermarket. i just make sure to try and get ones that dont require centering rings and non OEM lugs.

full thread has tons of info if you don't mind going aftermarket.

generally the smaller the rim size, the better the tire choices are.

and snow tire season is almost over believe it or not. in a month the tires will be slim pickings.

The car looks great! I was actually looking on TireRack and the Vredestein winter tires were highly rated.

they are not well known in the US, they were established in the netherlands in the early 1900s, didnt really do marketing in the US till the mid 2010s or so.

i usually run pirelli or bridgestone performance winters, they were half the price of scorpion winters (which i had on my X3). figured i would give them a shot. they handle dry and wet better than the pirellis, they feel like a good all season and not a snow in the wet and dry.
snow traction seems on par (we havent had alot of snow so i cant say to more than a few inches) and they were quiet (for a snow) and smooth running (much much more comfortable than the 22 runflats)

You buy 23" wheels to be unique. Tire manufacturers ensure you remain that way.
