Just too cheap for words
I had a 19 X7 which I bought new. On this vehicle, I paid for red light/speeding cameras notifications. This was a yearly subscription that I renewed every July. An additional service- ok I’ll pay the two-bits a year.
Last night, I traded my 19 for a 25 x7. I just called BMW to switch the service to the new vehicle. I finally reached a person who told me they cannot switch to the new car, the service runs with the vehicle, not with the car. Twenty-five bucks is not going to cause me to not pay my mortgage or miss a meal, the kids won’t go shoeless, but after paying a hundred grand plus for a car, getting chiseled for lunch money instead of giving me credit for what I already paid for, is chintzy. Rant over. We return you now, to your regularly scheduled programming |

Yeah sucks they can't change the subscription over. I only did the trial period and never even remembered getting a notification, but I'm going on a 700 mile trip this weekend so maybe I'll pay the $25 and check it out.

BMW is not a customer oriented company at any level. They really almost seem like they hate their customers. It’s the mid-tier brands that actually sell vehicles to customers that need to be impressed are the better customer relation brands.
German car companies morphed into arrogant and horrible customer service decades ago and then a little unknown company called “Lexus” came in and treated high end customers with better service at dealerships from the time they purchased to every service cost they had later at the dealership. Vote with your wallet - do NOT use any of the subscription based services. Why not use your phone with something like WAZE which gives you that and more for essentially free of charge?
If people fall for the "rent everything" model, ofcourse they will push more of it. Here you actually do have a choice not to feed the system by simply using your phone either directly or via carplay/aa. |

If y’all remember they were trying to do the same thing with Apple CarPlay. After universal outrage they did the right thing made it free.

yeah, same here, made me pay again... but I dont think my $25 will help them either at this point with their recalls... its penny-wise and pound-foolish strategy for BMW IMHO...

But with the Google and Waze crowdsourcing, when I use AA and it's connected to my car, I'm unable to make a user report of a speed trap. I can see them, just can't report it unless I go to my phone. |
