If it's scheduled for July 19th, it likely won't change status until a few days before the 19th.

It's very unlikely it will get moved up, more likely it will get pushed back.

You don't need to check it like a maniac until closer to July 19th.

Just wondering anyone knows what Sub Prod. means on the order sheet.

Im assuming Req Prod means requested and Conf. Prod means confirmed.

Requested Production Date
Subsequent Requested Production Date
Confirmed Production Date

The most important date is the confirmed. Which says your vehicle will finish production in week 30 which is July 20th-26th.

Start to finish, usually within 2 days but typically no more than 3 days unless there's a QC issue - part, assembly. The body spends most of the time traveling from body to paint shop, then assembly line, quality check before vehicle prep for shipping (plastic wrap) and sometimes a random final check before driven out of the factory to holding parking for shipping.

My date back in the first week of March as dead on. What did you end up ordering? I know you've been talking about getting one for a while.

I ended up ordering a 2020 because of the reprieve of options for 2021. It is completely loaded 40i in Mineral White/Full Merino Ivory. $105,600 MSRP. Funny thing I was hoping they would ADD Laser Lights for 2021 but they oppositely took options away so I had to hurry to build a 2020. I think they wanted more distance with options with the 3 models for 2021 so had to take some away from the 40i. Going to be a long wait.

Well I called BMW Genius and was told that my X7 is at this time scheduled for daily production which means they are rounding up all the parts to begin production and usually begins within a week after this. However my build week is week 30 and she told me that she believes that is just the first thing in the system but the vehicle could start to be built anytime. Do I get my hopes up here or did I just talk to someone clueless?

With all of the production uncertainty, sharing the status of a build that I submitted for a 2020 X7 40i msport, premium excellence pack, laser lights, shadow line extended
May 12 placed order
May 16 received production number and confirmation of week 23 build
May 29 VIN confirmed and confirmed production to start Monday June 1
June 1, stage 150 body shop
June 15, stage 155 Assembly finish, quality check
June 16, stage 160 vehicle handover to sales

Will keep you updated as further updates come through.

I think they are telling everyone basically the same thing in slightly different ways but our production completion dates are all the same week. I think they are just getting ready to do all of them at once and then stop 2020 production.

I will be curious if someone today has a production date after July for a 2020. Anyone?

Thanks for sharing . It looks like they started your build as they stated and it took 2 weeks to build.

It's just whether this whole Covid thing is going to play with year end x7 special orders before the factory has to be retooled for the 21s. I'm hoping so.

I have my 2020 X7 40i production timeframe of the week of July 5. Fingers crossed at this point as to when it actually gets built.

X5/6/7 won't require factory retooling for MY21 since features and options haven't changed. Minor adjustments usually occur for LCIs (life cycle impulse aka refresh) and major redesigns.

I guess it will be more about programming than anything, secondary to options changing.

Actually called Genius again today and got a much different response. Nothing about Week 30 but that it is scheduled to be completed July 30, but that is subject to change.

I think in a nutshell, they really have no clue.

Can you share the details of your build please if you don't mind? I ordered a loaded 40i as well and curious as to how folks that are ordering loaded 40i are optioning them.

My 2020 40i (which should be on the assembly line right now - the website is still on Dot 3 but my CA says it is scheduled to complete Friday) is Alpine White with Black extended merino. For packs we got Executive, Luxury Seating, Cold Weather, Parking Pro, Driver Assist Pro, and M Sport. We added B+W diamond surround sound (which I'm super excited about since they have removed this from 2021), integral active steering, leather dash, M brakes, trailer hitch, and running boards. MSRP is a little over $96k.
