Here's a stupid question

Does the driver side mirror rotate down when you put the Z4 in reverse? I know the passenger side does, because I use that a lot. But I never bothered looking at the driver side until today and noticed it doesn't move. Is it broke?

No...just the passenger side rear view mirror.

Thanks a lot! I wonder why? I use the mirror to keep off the grass when backing out of my driveway, which isn't straight. I never bothered to look on the driver side, because I never go down that side of the driveway. Until today.

I use it to see the curb when parallel parking.

Same here, wish I could choose left or right mirror because it would be quite helpful to see my target when backing into my garage. However, it is pretty common on most vehicles to only lower the passenger side mirror.

Bear in mind it only tilts when the mirror adjustment switch is in the driver's position. If set to the passenger mirror position, the mirror doesn't tilt.

Do you have the parking assistant? I use it pretty much every time I pull into my parking garage to back into the spot perpendicular, but haven’t tried it in a parallel space yet.

Yes, but I like doing it the old fashioned way.

They should both go down IMO. I usually end up tilting the driver side myself, cause i back into all my prking spots.

Could it be a regulation that only allows the passenger side mirror to move like this?

I swear they both went down in my previous Acuras, depending on what side you had the mirror switch moved too.

IIRC, my 2004 CLK500 cabroliet only went down on the passenger side.

No, there's cars (like Polestars and Volvos) where you can select from None / Passenger / Driver / Both. There's also cars that straight up don't do it.

I don't think I have ever had a car that turned the mirrors down before. But, it took me a year to notice it now, so you can't trust what I say! I'm old, I forget stuff.... a lot.

. . . but you drive a Z4 so you've got that going for you, which is nice.

I didn’t know the bit about the adjustment switch. I tried it and you are right. Useful to know.
Thanks

I'll probably forget, but it was good to know... for awhile.
