Is there interest in intake systems?

Ive been debating production of a proper intake system for the E90, I am curious as to the interest of such a product.

Here are the issues with the current products:

GruppeM: Draws air from the same x-sectional area as OEM; has a VERY small air filter; probably less surface area than the OEM.

AFE: ATTEMPTS to draw cool air in from front of car. However, in my intake research, the front of the E90 is sealed off, so this intake would effectively be a "hot-air" setup.

The benefits of such a setup: sound and performance (a little, as much as expected from any intake setup) I did some sound tests with a ghettosetup i fabbed, and the E90 with an intake has one hell of a growl to it.

So any thoughts?

i think that most people that get intakes arent really in it for the extra power. i mean companies claim you gain "10hp from our intake" but honestly you cant even tell. Mostly, people get it for the sound. The gruppem intake for the e46 sounds soo nice. And at high speeds it has a loud ass growl to it. but then again a $800+ intake for e90 just for sound dosent seem worth it to me...

I am currently helping to design an E90 intake and our primary goals are sound, filtration quality and looks- with the adaptive Siemens EMS II computers and high quality knock sensors, there is very little in the way of power to be had out of any modern high-performance motor, especially the E90. I would HIGHLY doubt any power claims from manufacturers of bolt-on performance products and I would be downright suspicious of any company selling performance software (aside from Dinan and Jim C).

Yes, im all for the gruppe m though. I know i wont get any gains but i am not doing it for the gains. If i was, i'd strictly be looking at forced induction. But in this case, it is to make the sound of the engine more pronounced.

K&N filters do not do a very good job of filtering...

Do note the person who tested the K&N (Jim C) and the idiotic response from the K&N marketbot.
