When you order it you get exactly what you want and afford.

I ordered my first one without the DHP and M Brakes. drove me crazy when I found out what I sacrificed. I reordered it to get those things. I am really waiting a total of 4 months and it will be worth it.

My car came with the standard brakes. I did not feel they had adequate stooping power. If you test drive a 328 vs a 335 the braking is night & day. I did notice this during my initial test drives trying to decide which model to get. I though it just was my impression driving the cars back to back.

Did the 335i you test drove have the standard brakes? Are the 335i standard brakes stronger then the 328's?

I only have standard brakes. They were a bit grabby and jerky at first but have now bedded in and are fine now with good feel.

I think the M-Sport brakes are worth speccing if buying new as you get the calipers and rotors.

Depends what colour the car is, not sure about blue brakes on a black car...

The car is Alpine White, with Black interior. It's really nicely equipped, just missing the stupid brakes.

Yes the 335 brakes are stronger than the 328. The 328 only has 1 piston calipers. The 335 has 4 pistons. The 335 also has bigger rotors.

I think the 4 pistons is with the Msport brakes. I thought the non Msport one has a single piston setup like the 328i?

Agreed. My 328i has DHP and the M Perf BBK and it's the perfect set up for a daily driver and track car.

Also, the dimpled and slotted rotors on the M Perf BBK help with pad offgassing at threshold braking.

Nope. All 335s have 4 pistons. The M-Sport brakes are pretty much the same as the standards on the 335s in the front expect painted and with bigger rotors. The rears are bigger and have 2 pistons instead of 1 that the standard rears have.

The M Sport brakes are mostly a cosmetic upgrade. On the street, there is no difference in stopping distance as the standard brakes are plenty powerful to activate ABS at any speed.

They might have a little more fade resistance due to larger size, but for heavy track use would still require modifications, such as steel braided brake lines, higher boiling point brake fluid, and maybe brake pads that batter handle high heat. The fixed calipers also probably allow a faster pad swap. A consideration for track use.

I don't really care so much about the cosmetics, maybe I should just pull the trigger. It sounds like the DHP is actually a much more important feature.

Yes, I would say functionally DHP is a more significant feature. The M Sport brakes look cool, especially with bigger wheels. Pretty good deal for 650 bucks, but far from a must have in my book. I would rank them somewhere below heated seats and above, say, a carbon front slitter.

For me they were more important than heated seats. I built the car custom and did get the brakes but not the seats. Never used them in any other car that had them, so didn't bother with them on this one.

Actually for me, they were a top priority. I even gave up being able to get all season tires for them.

I can't speak for the M Sport brakes but none of the above are needed with the M Perf BBK, even after a solid 45 minutes of 9/10ths driving.

They're same brakes. Only difference is that the "BBK" comes with dimpled rotors and in 3 different colors.

I made and still maintain a list of all those brake types, because I was also confused of how many brake variant BMW put into the F3x.

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=858607

Still not everything is clear to me, because BMW does not list size Information for all the rotors.
But maybe you find it helpful anyway :-)

Sorry for the dumb question but when I try to configure a 4 Series on the BMW site it does not allow me to option out the 19" 403M wheels along with the M Sport Brakes ?

Is this actually not possible or just a glitch on the site ?? Thanks in Advance !

Not sure, but go with the 441 wheel. Such a better looking wheel.

I have the same problem. It's a glitch on the site.

I think one aspect of the brakes that is often over looked is the pedal feel. The standard 328i brakes have good stopping distance/power for street use but have very little feel and an almost on/off type of engagement. The msport or performance brake kit really allow you to have a more progressive pedal feel which gives you more control. I also added the ss brake lines to improve the pedal feel even more.
