I agree, the sanitization of sport is evident everywhere, overtaking is now 'controversial" in F1..... MotoGP is where it's at right now, gladiators all, and magnificent competition. MotoGP seems to have missed the eyes of the chubby men in suits, but no doubt, they will seek it out and destroy it too...

absolutely! i still have saved on my DVR the 2015 Valencia Moto, in my opinion the greatest motorsports event OF ANY KIND ever televised. from lap 3 through the finish, six riders swapping all six positions repeatedly every lap, sometimes between two corners. i get exhausted just watching the vid. |

if it were up to me i'd keep the tubs (F1 & Indy both) because they do prevent people getting killed, throw the rest of the rule book in the trash, reissue the 1975 rule book which, except for necessary stuff like minimum weight, displacement and so forth, was essentially no rules. for example: during the 1974 Players Series (Atlantics) you'd walk onto the false grid to see 20 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT cars from six different chassis manufacturers and a menagerie of aerodynamic devices that could and did change from meeting to meeting. F1 in those days was even better: one year you'd have Ken Tyrrell show up with six freaking wheels on his cars: organizers looked, rubbed their chins, said "alright lad, have at it". today they'd have Ken arrested. i think the problem is that organizers everywhere have come to believe that spectators are only interested in the drivers, an idiotic idea that had it's origins with Bill France and spread like plague. Tony George (a complete knave imho) caused the plague to mutate into the dopey kit-cars we have now. Formula E makes my teeth itch. i have nothing else to say about Formula E. The removal of Grid Girls has been the last straw. There will be a revolt over this. The funny part to me is this: If I'm a track organizer and I paid 30 million to host a race for 5 years, I'd simply say those weren't the regs when I signed and bring the girls back.
This is the result of the political correctness movement seeping into everything like a vile poison. None of the Grid Girls were chained to a post and held at gunpoint to do this job. They apply in droves and want to do the job. PC = The death of freedom to choose in work, in private life, in sport and entertainment.

I have no training in acting so just my opinion: I think Russell Crowe is brilliant. when you compare Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind the difference between the two characters is breathtaking to the extent that "Russell Crowe" disappears....I've met John Nash several times before he was killed and I can tell you that Crowe BECAME John Nash. another actor that had that ability was Lawrence Olivier: he could be The Mahdi one year and Dr. Zell the next with zero overlap and no trace of Olivier in either.
thanks for posting that quote. |

Next up on the PC gravy train... due to the potential dangers of having real life human drivers, teams will be forced to race their Formula E cars driverless using only remote controls. **yawn**

Bring back tobacco advertising, teams would be flush with cash!
Banish all the libturds to their therapy groups where they can circle jerk about "man made climate change" and "Russian collusion". Their mental defects are contagious enough that those unable to think for themselves sadly fall prey too often. |

You want to know how screwed up it all is? We can't have grid girls anymore which every red blooded man and woman wants, but I bet grid boys would be completely embraced by the libs.
No no no, can't have those insanely hot broads out there flaunting what God gave them out of their own free will to drive the gents nuts. However, sending some doods out there bare chested in biker shorts with rainbow flags over their shoulders would just send the libturds into a euphoric state. If you dare say something other than this being the greatest thing ever in the history of sports, well you're a racist homophobe who doesn't believe in science. You laugh because you know it's true, you KNOW it's that fucked up now. |

Basically, if you're lazy but you want recognition, just complain about something really loud. It's infantile behavior, but here we are. And back on topic - yes, F1 is totally neutered and boring now. I got into F1 in the very late 1990s. I loved it because it was an automotive freak show; I was watching things happen that shouldn't supposed to be happening. Now I watch cars that don't rev much higher than an RX-7 on youtube. |

I remember when they hosted F1 in Downtown Miami and had shut down the streets. THAT was a hell of an event and what attracted me to cars from a little kid. The sound of the motor screaming running through the gears was exhilarating.
Now it just sounds brutal, i truly cringe hearing these cars and drive train. It really does sound like a dentist drill. |

So because I made a point, I'm automatically naive? Most people have enough self control to know the limits of discussing PC as it pertains to the sport.
