Hopefully there is something available. Last week the absolute best Tier 1 / A+ rate I could find for 72 months was 4.59%. Today, that same credit union is advertising 5.59%. A whole point in a week. It would be nice to get some help somewhere especially since there is ZERO negotiation on the price here in Washington.

I was actually looking to see if anyone knew what the best BMW NA rates were for 72 months, and what the latest rebates were. When I ordered in October, the rebate was $750 off sticker if you financed with BMWFS, or $1,500 off sticker if you leased. I was told I was grandfathered into that deal, but if it was better at delivery I would get the better deal.

Agreed. One of the reasons I want to find out what the new January rebates are. My X7 is awaiting carrier assignment as of yesterday. I signed the paperwork on October 28th. I'll be cutting it close to keep that $750 financing rebate.

Can anyone share what they are getting for a financing rate for 72 months from BMWFS?

I live in Washington state the current best financing rate for 72 months with Tier 1 / A+ credit that I can find at a local credit union is 5.74% with Alaska USA CU. They offer .15% rate discount for applying online, so the final rate is 5.59%
American 1 CU in Michigan is offering 4.99% and is open to membership to out-of-state residents. I am currently planning on using them to finance the remaining balance of my X7. I should be taking delivery the second week of February, so I know rates can and probably will change on the first of the month. Does anyone have a lead on any other credit unions around the country that have better rates than this and is open to out-of-state membership? Thanks in advance for any leads. |

I am seeing 4.74% for 72 months from MassBay Credit Union (Boston). To get the $750 rebate I’ll take whatever garbage rate I get from BMWFS then refinance with MassBay. My dealer refused outside financing (their “standard policy”) from any credit union. I was given an option of the major banks they have direct relationships on top of BMWFS, none of which are local credit unions with the best rates. I guess this is legal…

Thanks for the lead on that CU, and be sure to post some pictures of your new ride when you get it. |

Depending on how much you value a future relationship with them, refinance immediately to your credit union (causing a chargeback), or after 3 payments (they keep the kickback). Edit: Also check Tower FU, they are still in the mid 3% range on financing. |

What exactly is this kickback? Also, do you think the dealer (BMWFS) will match my Bank of America rate of 4.99% since they are a preferred dealer?

The amount of the commission is also dependent on the rate you get/accept. If you have great credit and the FS guy tells you it's at 4.59% for 60mo at Bank X you might have actually qualified for 4.29% at 60mo but if you accept that higher rate, they get paid more. They are not legally obligated to tell you that you qualified for a better rate... |

Dealers get paid anywhere from 1% (if they don't mark up the rate) to as much as 3% if they do a maximum markup 2%
Their payouts are subject to chargeback which is 90-120 days depending on the bank. Typically dealers will try to match/beat a rate you get from outside, even if they have to buy down the lowest rate they can get from one of their banks (and take less of a payout). I can't imagine a dealer won't take outside financing, does that mean they wouldn't take cash either? If it were me and a dealer was playing that kind of game i'd just take their financing and refi it the next day. |

My dealer insisted in lieu of an MSRP bump that I finance at least 50k with a 1% apr bump, despite wanting to pay cash. This was last July to secure their first production allocation- my prod date was 7/28 so it was the very first day. I did ask if they cared how I paid back the loan, they said no as long as it was on the books for 6 months. So I paid 45k as soon as the loan hit bmwfs, then knocked it down so I had a balance of a few hundred for the last few months. Total interest was 130 or so, offset by the loyalty rebate of 750. You can literally refi or payoff the loan as soon as it hits bmwfs and has an account number. The dealer will get charged back if it isn't open for I believe 3 payments

No discounts when we ordered a 40i in late Dec. Many dealers in Chicago area were still well above msrp for other cars we looked at - MB wanted 10-15% above for a GLS, Lexus wanted 25-35k above for a LX 600. Forget what Audi wanted for a Q7. Made us feel good about getting the X7 at msrp.
Suspect that the coming economic slow down coupled with increasing inventories should help those placing orders now in this segment. Several Lexus dealers have reached back out recently offering deals of ‘only’ 15-20k over msrp. |
