Remote Parking is Live!
For those of you that have the 11/2022.31 version of idrive 8. Remote control parking is now live with today’s MyBMW app update on iOS. Haven’t tried it yet so no feedback on functionality.

No way. That’s pretty cool. So if I have a recorded path it will follow it? Wonder if I can summon it like Tesla. When it’s in my garage I can have it come to me as my garages are out back…
Now I’m really just being lazy… 🙂🙄 |

It won't be available OTA until March. Aside from waiting, you would have to go to a dealer to request it (either pay, or be nice and say some words about maps not behaving and such to get them to install the latest version).

I'm only used the auto parking feature a couple times, only for testing it. I find that it takes awhile getting used to it and I'm fumbling with enabling it so in the end, I just park it myself. |

Your gear position (Drive/Reverse) and turn signal status don't matter; the car sets all of that automatically when the autopark function starts. If you're using Auto Hold, you likely won't be pressing the brake when you try to activate autopark... in that case the car won't do anything when you try to activate autopark. Took me a while to figure that out. If you drive past parking spot #1, the car beeps to indicate it found a parking spot. If you keep driving past a few more cars and get next to / somewhat past parking spot #2 and then activate autopark, the autopark is going to reverse all the way back up the road and park into spot #1. You need to drive fully past spot #2, it'll beep again to indicate it found the second spot and then you can autopark into it. Another thing I've noticed once - not sure if this always works - is that you don't need to be in the parking view before you go past the empty spot. You can drive just past an empty spot, realize that there was an empty spot back there which you wanted to park in, then press the button to bring up the parking view, and it'll have that spot already detected and ready to park into. I got 112022.44 update yesterday on my m60i when at the dealer dealing with the headlight recall. Got a new digital key email from BMW after the update - I had to delete my old digital key and install the new one. After that as long as you have iOS 16.2 and latest my BMW app it works great! You can use prerecorded path or manual mode which allows you to move forward or back from your phone. All of the parking sensor data shows up in app. To test, I used the manual function to back out of my garage and then pull back in from the app. Slightly terrifying but it worked well and is very responsive.

Good question- it may be already? The new digital key plus email I received after the dealer software update mentioned being compatible with Android. Unclear to me if that extends to remote parking.

On the topic itself I don't see the option on the My BMW app, I picked up a 23 X7 last week of Dec. I don't have the Driving Assist Prof pkg but the Parking Assist Pkg, I would expect to see that option. Anything to enable inside the car? |

I think it has something to do with the digital key but I don’t have my spare with me, I keep it at a friends place in case I need it in an emergency, so I’ll have to redo the digital key setup later this week and see if that changes anything. |

Not like I’m really ever going to use this feature. But I did poke around online and I think you have to drive up to a parking spot or garage and get out and then the icon for remote parking will be on your app (only if you are using the digital key plus) then you can move the car remotely. Then when you want to move it again it will appear on the app when you return to the vehicle. The sequence has to be that you remote parked the car first.
In other words you can’t just walk up to it and use the app anytime you want to start moving the car. It has to be parked with remote park first. That’s what I am gathering anyways I could be completely wrong. I’ll probably try it out today to see if it works. Update. I was wrong. Disregard this post.
