How many working days have you been without your x7?
Check your state lemon law statute…typically 30 working days is a trigger. Once 30 days passes, talk to service and see if they'll facilitate a buyback. Lemon law lawyers will consult for free—from there you'll be informed and can make a good decision. As you mentioned, Waiting for repair and keeping might get some compensation. Even if the car is repaired prior to 30 days, Keep track of the out of service working days just in case you have another warranty repair. |

How many working days are you out of service now? I think I made my first suggestion that it sounds like we're gonna get to lemon status at 15 days. They spent 15-20 days doing diagnostics. The magical part was supposed to arrive in 7-10 but coming from Germany. The dealer later acknowledged it had no tracking info. No way of knowing anything bout when it was coming and in this post covid world, some of this supply chain stuff remains a huge mess. And I'd suspect they probably wanted to keep good parts going to new inventory.

I think this means that as long as the dealership is making earnest efforts to remedy the problem, such as keeping you updated, providing you a loaner, etc., it's difficult to assert a dispute. The dealership is at the mercy of the manufacturer, and the manufacturer is at the mercy of the parts supplier, etc.

I have now receiced this drivetrian message two more time (latest today). It went away both times after 15 minutes but now I have made the appointment for Monday. Hopefully its nothing serious.
I am guessing lemon law doesn't apply to me as they have not done any work expect the first time they asked me to reset the car. This is really concerning now. |

I received my X7 back and everything seemed OK. It ended up being the fuel pump relay. It was at the dealership for about 9 days .

In NY it’s 30 days within a period. And the days do not have to be consecutive. So they can be over the course of 18,000 miles or 24 months whichever comes first. But it varies by state. |

We have seen this happen on this forum in as little as 400 miles. It’s crazy. Few high pressure fuel pumps. Few bad coil packs etc. and it makes no difference if you have the 40i or 60i.. some 60i’s have had issues also. Then comes the ghost messages. Some people have had this error and then magically it goes away. Or some take it to the dealer and they do a software update and it’s fine. Yours is a little different in the fact that it won’t start so it may be more involved. This is still concerning to me because if I get stranded, this car will never see my garage again. I’ll take the financial hit and move on. I won’t stand for it. But that’s just me. |

Nah. It’s an absolutely great vehicle. I’m just disappointed that the X7 owners are having all these issues.
My 2020 X5 was awesome and I never had one issue in 30k miles. BMW will absolutely fix these issues. It just sucks that we are the Guinea pigs with the new model year engines and idrive8. Wouldn’t cancel. Maybe they will straighten it out before you get yours. And I’m not saying that you or I will have any of these issues. Fingers crossed. In the last 42 vehicles I have owned I have never been stranded. I’m not about to start now. But that’s just me. It will be unfortunate for sure as I love the X7. Let’s just hope it doesn’t happen. I can deal with the vehicle being in limp mode. At least I can get it to the dealer or get off the highway. But when it’s totally dead… then we have a problem.
