Coolant Caps (Both) Have Boogered Up Threads - Really?
So I was checking the coolant level in my '24 X7 and went to remove the turbo coolant reservoir cap (passenger's side of the engine bay).
Started out good, but 1/2 turn in, the cap was "jammed". With a LOT of effort, I managed to get it off and inspected the plastic cap threads and they were toast. The coolant level is 1" above Max. Went over to the engine coolant reservoir (driver's side of the engine bay) and proceeded to remove it. 1/2 turn in, same thing as the turbo coolant reservoir cap....Again, after a LOT of effort, managed to get it off and the threads were boogered up on it too.... With 685 miles on the Odometer, this came from the factory like this...am I the only one with 2-for-2 hosed up coolant caps? Putting both of them back on, was a chore. Going to let the dealership replace them in a month when it goes in for it's 1st year oil change. |

The coolant level issue is pretty interesting since they use machines to add the fluids and they dispense a specific amount.
Might have just been unlucky on the caps. New kid in the factory maybe cross threaded them. |
