Given the fact that I had 3 Audi's before and couldn't wait to get rid of them, I don't think this will be any better... for me. And you can forget a manual option for any RS models from now on. If they didn't put it in an RS5... a car that should be manual like RS4 was... This thing won't have it either.

The Sportback is official now with 362hp:

http://autoblog.com/2014/12/12/audi-...tback-official

It's always possible the sedan will have more, especially in the US market, but probably not over 380hp if so.

I wonder if it has a spare tire like the S3. The S3 actually drove a lot better than what I was expecting especially in the steering feel category.

Also hear them promising more hp than the TTRS. I guess that magic number is 2. Very lame!!

Doesn't look like we are going to get it in the US

Quote:
Autoblog reached out to Audi spokesperson Mark Dahncke who told us there are currently "no plans to bring it to the US."

Right - we won't get the Sportback just like we don't get the A3 and S3 Sportbacks (though they have announced we'll get a TDI model next year, and an e-tron is also possible). Like I said, the US will get the sedan. Although there is no absolute guarantee that the RS3 sedan will become a real product, it is a no brainier in every sense of the word(s).

Audi's RS line is very good but is hit or miss whether we ever see them in the states. No RS6, barely got the RS5 (Audi fans and Audi NA had to petition to get it), and who knows if we will ever see a RS3.

The price premium is also crazy. If the RS3 comes here expect it to be priced like the M3.

They definitely do not have as full a lineup in the US as BMW M does, or for that matter Mercedes AMG. But they have increased the number of offerings over the past few years, and really the only products we lack other than the RS6 sedan are the two Avants (which is no surprise). Edit: and the Q3 RS - forgot about that.

I do remember the TT RS being petitioned for but not the RS5, although I can certainly see that possibly having been the case.

I think it'll be priced close to the CLA45 if they offer it since that would be it's primary competitor. So, right about $50k, maybe $55k at the most.

A new TT RS will probably come near the M3 price though; the last generation one was about the same price as an E90 M3.

Allow me to translate as I think I understand Stonerese. E39M235i wishes to put a rhetorical question to Audi about its as-tested weight distribution of its upcoming RS3. Convinced that it will once again prove to be front-heavy, E39M235i emphatically opines that the RS3 will be at a significant disadvantage to a more evenly-balanced competitor from BMW, when driven vigorously around a race track or when piloted by our very own Lups (while she is in a state of vengeful agitation, triggered by a perceived lack of road-going decorum by her fellow motorists).

For future reference, in order to allow E39M235i to understand your befuddlement at his rather imprecise use of language, might I suggest:

"Dude, WTF?!?! "

You may be right. It was the TTRS.
As for the price who knows what they will do, I just seem to remember the RS4 being priced above the M3 when it came out. 66k to 54k

Yea n big reason why it didnt sell in the states. Hopefully they learned from past mistakes and price it reasonably

...Audi artificially limited sales to 1000 in the US (much like BMW did with the 1M). TTRS is still selling on the used market for $50-$65k..barely lost any value at all.

With the success that Audi has had selling the RS5 and the RS7, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought a RS3 sedan stateside (particularly as the RS5 won't be on sale next year).

I don't know if Audi underrates it's engine output like BMW does now, but I hope so, I knew it wouldn't be very close to the clubsport for various reasons, but that output is kind of disappointing. There probably won't be any rs sedans coming to the US anytime soon (that I know of) but with the new c-class looks I probably won't be tempted to go to any of the dark sides.

No doubt M3 will be a better performer overall, but there is no other 4 door high performance car with AWD and a 7spd DCT that I know of in the US (S6 doesn't count, RS6 does, but doesn't have as DCT, Same with E63). Given that is snows here, I think I would reluctantly get the RS3 over the M3. Luckily it isn't coming to the US.

There is a brand new S3 parked in my workplace garage. It looked good...very good. I've never owned a Audi or VW so I don't have preconceived biases (except reviews, which as was noted see-saw all over the place based on model). Dual clutch only kills it for me however. There is a slight chance the S3 will be offered in the US with a manual sometime in the future (as it is in Europe); I doubt that will ever happen for the RS3.

I think that M2 will be a better track car. MT and DCT, all is covered. A 2 series GC is still missing!

Damn that's a sick sounding ride! My lease is up in 30 months so I have time to see how it all plays out before I pull the trigger on my next kickass sport sedan haha

They somewhat dissapointed with the latest generation RS3 Sportback. There was talk of close to 400hp, but in the end they delivered it with no more power than the outgoing TTRS.

The sedan is likely to come in with similar numbers, but there's always hope they bump it up like they did the TTRS when that hit the states.
