the upper lights on the "split headlights" still look like stickers to me. Now, the "split taillights" are a new thing we haven't seen in previous pictures

Those "split headlights" are 100% stickers on the top portion.

I dunno ... the edges look a little fuzzy like DRLs showing through the camo stickers.

It's one thing to camo/disguise design features, but actually going to the trouble to think up, make, & place fake / misleading design elements seems too far for BMW to care enough to go.

Slapping the camo over those new DRLs seems like the Occam's Razor answer.

The lower lights also look tacked on - oddly square and doesn’t transition from the surrounding panels - almost like they were recessed inside the front end. I can’t imagine that would be the final. Maybe wishful thinking.

BMW has a history of fooling gullibles with stickies. I bet the engineers get a crackle when they read all the reports in the press and forums..

We will see when it gets to production. It’s a brand new car and not a refresh LCI

BMW has already confirmed that higher end models, such as the XM, X7, and 7er will receive split headlights to set them apart. While it is an LCI, that still means new bumpers which the headlights are located in.

I don’t see split headlights on the XM

I actually think the lower set of headlights in the spy shots look weird and tacked on - like the old halogen bulbs instead of LEDs. But with reflector assembly, etc, hard to see how they would “tack on” a set of headlights to hide the redesign a la Concept XM.

The XM does have split headlights. They are under tinted plastic housing. Expect production models to not feature this dark of a tint due to vehicle regulations.

Well, at last this looks better than the other renders that have been floating around, IMHO.

I fully expect the split lights on the lci. The high cheekbone design showing through the wrap and the projectors being located so low and sunk into the bumper stand out to me as following the same language as the xm. (Can really see it in the most recent profile shots) BMW did say in the XM presser that this style (split) was planned as a differentiator for their premium lines. Correspondingly we see indications of it coming on the new 7 and the x7 lci. Additionally, in the xm press material BMW stated this design allows for much more interesting drl designs which would explain why the drls are hidden to the point of looking like reflectors.

The styling change tucking the headlights into the shadows under the "intake cheekbone"design lines combine with a tint similar to the G80/82 shadowline headlights should leave the lower section reasonably hidden/blended. I do not expect it to be as good as the XM concept but good enough that someone not "in the know" (which is 99% of those on the road) wouldn't be able to pick out the lights without a long look.

To all those that believe these dollar store renders:

I've got a lovely bridge for sale in NYC. DM me for details.

Whoa, I can kinda start to make out the front design on these shots. That looks pretty aggressive and mean for what I see.
I'm thinking that's got to be M50/M Sport treatment.

Judging by the rear exhaust it's an Alpina.
