More photos of the coming F30 3-series playing (testing) in the snow
Absolutly nothing new in these pictures compared to the already seen similar spy photos, but as things have been slow leading into the Geneva Autoshow, thought I would post these up.

At some angles it just looks awkwardly long wheelbased...anyone else see what I am talking about?

One can only hope that what they are testing here is a new LSD option...

Yeah I see it. And another thing I noticed is how much lower the top of the rear wheel well is compared to the front.

I bet their going to offer Integral Active steering as an option since in corners it will make it turn in like a shorter wheel base car. Plus if you see the wheel base on the current 2.0 inches longer than the current E9X platform. On a side note if you look at BMW's from the past such as the E30 (3-series) E34 (5-series) and E32 (7-series) the back wheel well also was lower compared to the front. Maybe they are going back to more retro styling on the new F30 3-series.

There's no need for it to get bigger (though it probably will). If you want a bigger car, that's what the 5 and 7 series are for.

E30 - most sporty chassis
E36 - best sized 3-series generation ever. It was perfectly proportional. E46 - Onset of obesity, but chassis rigidity over E36 was staggering. E92 - Elegantly obese. Wheelbase too long. F30 - E39 5er size. Wheelbase length will take away nimbleness. |
