Google maps is now available to be displayed on Carplay dashboard.
Hopefully Google updates Waze and add this function soon.

To activate, open Google Maps on Carplay then tap dashboard icon. Carplay will display last opened supported map app on the dashboard. You'll also need iOS 13.4 to have this feature.

Thanks for the photo, and I'm a Google Maps diehard, but the dashboard view leaves me cold. Just no map functionality, you have to tap and tap to get back to the full screen map to mute the volume or change a destination. And with that narrow focus some of the best features like lane assist and alternate route flags aren't visible at all even though they are visible in the full screen view.

And unless you're listening to music on your iPhone, there's no integration for FM or Sirius, so it's a disconnect. I'm playing Eminem on radio but the last thing I listened to on Apple Music is Frank Sinatra and that's the album art on the screen.

What Apple should do is float the music controls atop the full sized map. Make the widgets very secondary to the map itself. The amount of real estate dedicated to the non-map is weak.
