Latest OTA update.

I just took delivery of a 2019 50i and not 1 week later there's an update. No problems downloading and installing the update.
One of the new features that I was excited to see was the addition the rear tail lights to the DRLs. I know the update is installed as I now have Spotify but for the life of me, I can't find the option to add the tail lights to the DRL system. Anyone have any luck? (The release notes say there is now a checkbox)
Also, does anyone know if the instrument cluster can be updated to show the car animations that represent traffic around the car?
BTW, I know it's only been a few weeks but this is by far the nicest car I have ever owned!
Paul.

There has been a lot of talk about this on the x5 forum regarding the rear drl. If you are in NA you won't see it as an option but the tail lights should go on if drl is enabled.

Regarding the assisted driving view do you have that option in your instrument cluster settings?

^^This... My X7 had rear DRL from the factory, which was most likely a later software than the OP's (mine was 11/2019.5x). Didn't even realize I had them until I was messing around with my trailer electrical hook-up. But as mentioned, there is no option to just turn off the rear DRL, it is all or nothing. But if other markets can, then it means it is most likely a codeable option.

Thank you gentlemen! I'll go have a look and see if the tail lights are on and I'll look for that box to check to activate the "Professional Cockpit" but I'm very sure it's not there as my car is an early build 19.
I plan on bringing the car back to the dealership to see if I can have the latest software update installed (xx.2020.58 if memory serves).
I read somewhere on this forum where there is a service that can code your vehicle however you would like for about $170. I may hunt that guy down as I'm pretty sure this is outside of the capabilities of BimmerCode. Any insight on that thought process?

BimmerCode can code this stuff, but you will need to use Expert Mode inside of BimmerCode - but make sure you understand what you are doing of course. Also, you may need to use Android vice iOS when using Bimmercode for some coding functionality since the iOS app version is currently lagging behind the Android version - I can't remember off hand if Advanced Driving View (ADV) is affected by this.

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=645

I recommend you start searching through the coding forums over on the G05 forum page to get a better understanding of what is out there and how to code it, whether you want to try BimmerCode or go with an aftermarket coder.

@r33_RGSport is this something you can code? I don't remember seeing on your sheet.

Rear DRL is not available in the US.
I've been looking for it too.
Maybe later when I picked up G05, I'll be able to sit and look one by one.

I need to upgrade my OBDII dongle as my current one has limited functionality with the G series cars. I'll start my research and see what i can up with.

I suggest going with an ENET cable with either an Ethernet to lightning adapter (for iPhone) or Ethernet to micro usb or usb c (for Android).

+1. I have this setup with iOS, very fast and reliable. I don't use my wireless setup anymore...

ENET cable it is. I just looked at my build date. It's 2/19 even though we just took delivery of this car (as new). Is there anything about the early build 2019's that would preclude being able to activate some of the features discussed like the Professional Cockpit (or whatever it's called) or say, Drive recorder? Is there a firmware difference?

The only thing missing from early 2019 is ETJA.

Hmm, I think I have ETJA. I have the driver monitor in the center of the dash and the ability to have the car drive itself below 37mph. The only thing I'm missing is the depiction of where traffic is in the center of the instrument cluster. That. I'm trying to have coded in. Am I correct in assuming I have ETJA?

Based on your description, yes you do have ETJA. I am surprised you don't have the Advanced Driver View (ADV) option for your dash when you have the ETJA option though. But then based on what others have posted on this forum, I know BMW made some notable changes between MY19 and MY20, so this could be one of them....

I believe your correct and my quest for the enhanced view continues. I'm just tryin to determine that I have the hardware capable to have this option enabled.

You probably do have the hardware. Check on the G05 and G20 coding forums as I have seen the topic of coding ADV covered quite a bit over there....
