Eco or sports drive modes

Hey guys just wondering if anyone else is having trouble with Eco mode or sports mode reverting to comfort mode after restarting your car.

Also I am having trouble adding the X7 To my BMW App on my phone... After I put in the confirmation code from my car it tries to connect but says it can not download new car list.

From the factory your X7 will always revert back to Comfort mode when restarted. You can change this behavior with a coding change using Bimmercode. There are many posts about this and other things you can code.

The car defaults to comfort mode at every start. You can change the default mode easily with bimmercode.

Yeah I ordered everything immediately once I saw this... ordered the vlink off Amazon and got it next day yesterday and coded everything

I basically got 50 percent off because my wife's x7 comes in September lol.

Coding has become very simple lol...i remember back in the day I had to hook up a laptop and do all sorts of crap... one thing I don't like is that it takes forever to load

Super easy. Just make sure you get an adapter that supports BDC if you want to change the default drive mode. You can see the list of compatible ones on the website.

I think the cheapest way to go is an esys cable with an Ethernet to lightening adapter.

Yeah very simple and every thing is explained right on the app on what it does and pretty much self explanatory. Only thing to go wrong is if your phone or battery battery died on you while coding writes.

I would say just try it and if it seems too complicated then don't go through with it. I bought the obd2 Bluetooth unit on Amazon for 35 dollars and 39 dollars for the app so less than 100 which is worth a try... plus you can use it on any bmw afterwards... just go to their site and buy the one that is compatible with their program.

Hey guys, would you mind posting links to the hardware and software you're using? I've got my X7 and an incoming F33 and I'd like to code both cars myself.

Thanks!

Thanks Adam. Is the wired option faster than Bluetooth? The price and the conveneince doesn't matter much to me, but the speed of connecting/executing does.

Also, what iPhone app should I use with this hardware? Is there one app most use no matter the hardware or does each hardware choice tie to a specific app made just for it?

Enet cable + Lightning to Ethernet adapter for iOS is very fast (much faster than BT) and is what I use now. I don't use my BT adapter anymore. My preferred coding app is Bimmercode. It makes coding easy for beginners, but still has some more advanced functionality for more complex coding (but it won't replace a laptop with e-sys for maximum coding flexibility - but e-sys is harder to use).

Thanks, I'm going to run with this setup. My new F33 arrives by the end of the month and I don't want to go to my usual coding guy, just no way to social distance and keep the interior clean unfortunately, so I'm going to do this myself.

Again, really appreciate your help.

One last question if you don't mind:

I want to add BMW Office (so I get text message alerts in iDrive) and I want to make CarPlay take up the whole screen (my F33 doesn't have the X7's NAV, it's the prior gen).

When I look at the options that the Bimmercode app offers, I don't see BMW Office or CarPlay full-screen. My coding guy does this, but it's not in this app. Or is it?
