X7 --- wheel swap at dealer?
Looking at this beautiful X7 built with 22" staggered set up. I would love to trade down to the standard 21" rims for multiple reasons (cost, need AS).
How likely do you think the dealer can make it happen to complete the transaction? I was told since it's tied to VIN, it probably can't happen. As a compromised, I tried looking for AS RFTs. Tire rack only shows summer tires. None of the major chains show anything available. Even BMW's website show no compatible tires... Any suggestions??? |

I bet someone with 21's would trade you. Me personally, I purchased 19" aftermarket wheels/snow tires for the winter. imho, pure summer tires and snow tires give you the best of both worlds. But, I understand for people who live in milder climates and can get by with all seasons. Where I live, all seasons=no seasons.

I hate to admit it, but I would also consider a swap depending on where you are. And my wheels are ceramic coated as well...

It depends on the dealer. We were able to swap, though we moved up to the 22" 755'S. The dealer will typically build a quote with specific features and swap as needed. It's not necessarily tied to the VIN.

It might not matter to you, but the 22" wheels come with the higher speed limiter as well. When you drop to a 21" A/S from the factory you get limited to 210 km/h. So there is some advantage to having the dealer swap you back to 21" wheels instead of getting them the factory.

Edit: actually looking at how it is formatted, the 758i wheels only add option 840 to the M50i, so it may be only the M50i gets the increased top speed limiter and you have to option the 758i wheels for it.

I would order the vehicle with the 758M if I could and pick up the smaller wheels after for winter but that's not an option either since they don't swap for M performance parts and charge you the difference $$ during your build. Complete BS really. This should be software driven depending on the wheel size/tire type selected if it's that serious. On the plus side I don't drive that fast on normal roads and the X7 is not a track vehicle (for me at least)...sooooooo I'm good either way, I'm just pointing out the oddity of BMW's decision... especially on the M50i model. |

For the 40i, they could have charged $950 for 22" V-spokes or Multi-spokes and $1300 for 22" Y-spoke Bi-color Individual.

Of course I don't anticipate driving this boat over 130mph either lol. Increased top speed limiter (840) may be able to be coded in but I'm not sure. Personally, I'll be buying the 21" 754M Winter Setup from BMW in the fall. |

It can't be coded, you'd need a full flash to change it. I fully intend to take it above 210 km/h so it seems crazy to put a limiter on there unless it's wheel issue. I can't find any specs other than offsets and weights though which all seem to be the same across the 22" options.

Doing this will will allow you to keep the 22in tires and get all season but only sacrifice some of the aggressive stance. It will probably be a pricy investment at first but save you money in the long run especially if you plan on keeping the car for a while. |

I had two different dealers tell me that if you switch tires from all season to summer perf. at the dealership they will adjust the speed limiter.
They seem confident they are correct and it's two different dealers that are saying it....sooooo....either they are both right or both wrong Anyone has confirmation on this? |
