new owner - how to reset iDrive?
Just bought a 2012 650i Convertible with 23K on it. The prior owner has it loaded with radio/nav presets and audio recordings. Just generally a ton of saved data. Is it possible to delete all this and send it back to original state?
Also where can I get an updated nav disc at a good price? Thanks! |

anyone? I'm sure when the dealer gets a trade in they have some simple way to do a "factory restore" of the personalizations????
Thanks to anyone willing to educate me |

It's in the owners manual.

I know how to delete radio presets, what I want to know is how to delete everything - nav history, nav stores, radio stores, all recorded music, all drivers, etc..... I'm sure when a car is traded to the dealer there is a method they use to do this....? They can't dedicate a tech to deleting every individual thing and searching for all the stuff..... takes hours. |

From the iDrive main menu, go to settings. When in the settings menu, move the iDrive controller to the right. Move it to the right one more time after that, and you should see an option to delete all personal data. It's there in my car, but I've never used it.
