Too funny, since my wife and I got into a fight last week about eating popcorn in the car. She wanted to bring a bowl full in my car, but would not have been able to finish it by the time we arrived. I was afraid the left-over popcorn would sit in my car and stink it up.
She then asked the stupidest question possible; "Which is more important, me or the car?" Never ask a question you really don't want the answer to. I absolutely love the smell of my car. I'm at 6000 miles so the new car smell has faded, but I use Zaino leather conditioner, and it smells great! It is the greatest experience to combine the feel of the car with that great smell! (And no, I don't work for Zaino--the stuff just smells really good.) |

My almost 4 year old (March 19 is the day) is addicted to the "new car smell" on the E91. He has been in other new cars but every time he gets in - it's, "Daddy, what's that good smell". I tell him every time that it's a new Bimmer smell. Now he tells his mom when they are going somewhere together, "Mommy - don't worry - it's that nice new Bimmer smell". Gotta love it - nice to train them early about quality.

I didn't notice the new car smell...it was milder than I'm used to. What appeals to me is the engine smell after I just pull into the garage....and no, I don't have a radiator leak.

"I know there has been recent research that says the delectable new car smell is actually dangerous but I just don't care. When you get a test car with low miles on it, like the BMW 325xi that drove up on Monday, the new car smell is a bonus. It's much better than the stale auto journalist smell most test cars arrive with. "

I had some friends get in the car earlier today that said it still had the new car smell....not bad considering I've had my car for just 2 days under 7 months...

I guess I will be the first one to admit, I am not a big fan of the new car smell, i dunno just not something that i like, especially the BMW leather. In fact I air out the cabin when i get the car.
Its not like its safe either, it can be bad for your health. |
