They need to fly this dude out and drive one with a downpipe and hybrids. Hope "TheSmokingTire" will pay to clean up the driver's seat afterwards.

Interesting seeing the test.

For some reason it drives me crazy seeing front and rear wheels with different levels of concavity.

In the video they talk about the car both bottoming out and rubbing.

I love how they joke about the servicing.

Piggyback?! Why, why, why? Should have tuned the car and then taken it for the review!

They have a one take with a 800hp n54 335I lol. Down pipe and hybrids aren't anything crazy for them

When comparing it to a stock 335d with only a JBD it certainly is.

JBD is far from a "Tune".

This was early in the game too, props.

Agreed, but the owner comments that the car is a California car and removing the emissions equipment is not a piratical option because of yearly testing. Quite a few people who participate here who live in Cali just do a piggy back and EGR block, then remove the block/piggy back for yearly testing and live with a constant SES.

Interesting to hear that the "reviewer" liked the lowered suspension on their test route. Don't ussually hear a lot about suspension mods in these type reviews. KW coil overs right?

But the engine sure sounds nice, and its a nice car to drive. The guy with the glasses reviews modded cars, and this was probably one of the lesser modded cars he's driven.

It was also telling that the owner has spent over 6K in repairs just after the warranty was up to keep it on the road, for typical 335d issues. I wish BMW would extend the warranty on the emissions components like they have for the HPFP's on the 335i's. It seems like given the failure rate on these items, they should for customer good will and avoiding the EPA ire.

Sorry for the Cali boys, but definitely the owner didn't know squat much about his car(former RICER), the driver was SOMEWHAT impressed but he would not elaborate or compare so much to another car. Guys SOMEONE here has to contact this dude and have him test one of our cars, a REAL modded car, what do you think?

I thought it was funny how the owner didn't know his tire widths.

Hey guys, the owner of this car is on the forum and a friend of mine. He is actually very knowledgeable and knows what his car has. He is a huge 335d enthusiast and has organized the only CA 355d get together that I know of. Just remember when your infront of a camera you tend to get nervous, especially when your infront of a celebrity.

Look at the positive here, he got Matt to review the 335d, no one else had stepped up prior to this. He is going to get ahold of Matt and see if he would like to drive my other friends 335d with abc delete / full exhaust and stage 2.5 tune.

Kudos to him!!! And I agree, I'd get tongue tied on camera too. I thought the same thing when watching it, just a case of being camera shy.

Yep. He seems like a cool guy and props for him in getting some more exposure for the 335d. Everyone is different as well. I wouldn't STFU in front of a camera.

Another thing to realize is that, even though it doesn't look like it due how it comes across on camera, Matt is taking those corners fairly hard and they are really tight. That in itself will cause someone to not be able to give full concentration to a conversation.

I actually sent Matt an email. He seemed very intrigued with the car and excited about its developments.

He's out in LA so if someone around that area can bring him an ABC to review he'd probably do it. Need BDP, BPC, or AR/JR to send him a stage 3 hybrid turbo setup... I say hybrid turbos cause man, the difference over the 2 is quite big IMO.

Lol I would but my car is pretty much is identical to the car reviewed.

Black (BSM)
M Sport
18" Apex ARC-8 in Hyper Black
Michelin PSS
KW (V3, not ST) at highest ride height
JBD
Driven in Angeles Crest (Highway 2)

No front lip though (I have enough clearance issues as-is), no carbon interior wrap.

But I do have tech package and full M bits (front / rear arms, sways, strut brace, bushings), the latter of which make a huge difference in handling.

Same power / torque though.

I think it'll be pretty rare for a CA member to have a fully modified, dyslexic D.

On the other hand, if any fully modified, dyslexic Ds are ever in LA, we should meet up as I'd love to see what could've been :
