Seeing the videos of it in motion, dare I say I actually like it. The interior is also very revolutionary, but I can see some inspiration from the 7 series interior in terms of design style.

So is it really worth the extra 50-60K just to have an additional electric motor and 40 or more hp over X5M and X6M.

Maybe I'm just not getting it but where does this fit in the line up? Who are they trying to compete with? 190K is almost more than non ADM G63 territory. People who are in the market for a Urus are in the price range of XM but someone in the market for a Urus is a completely different type of customer imo. RSQ8 is in X5M/X6M range. Cayenne Turbo/S is up there closer to 180K range, not really sure.

Maybe someone can fill me in? Power to those who are in the market for a 200K SUV and go with XM over a Urus or Cayenne Turbo S, I just think at that price point the market is pretty limited but then again, what do I know..
Yeah I think the issue is, who's buying this even if it drives amazing?

Curious to see how it drives considering she's a big girl at 200+ inches long and 6,000lbs. Guess it really needs all that power to move it.

The M Hybrid powertrain holds my curiosity the most, and is in my opinion the most interesting part of this car as I assume this will make its way to the next M5.

Not a fan of the gaudy exterior, especially the abundance of tacky gold trim everywhere.

I guess this is going after the G-Wagon and Range Rover market considering the price? I can't imagine Urus buyers will be cross shopping this.
I think performance wise the only thing that one can cross shop between this and a Range Rover would be the SVR. And I think this is more "sporty" compared to G. People who are going for the G are going for it for the bragging rights and the status quo it gives rather than the driving experience so I think they are out of the equation as well.. And I agree, the only one that makes sense is Urus but then I don't think that the customer for Urus would cross shopping with XM
I can't see a majority of these XM's selling because of the driving dynamics. I think this is BMW's attempt at a status car (like Mercedes has with the G, and Land Rover with the RR). The ads only seem to emphasize this.
Then where would the Alpina for this sit? At 200K? The "base" XM has almost the same MSRP as the GLS Maybach. I don't get it lol, I hope it works out for them but I'm feeling like this will be another case of the i8

I have a feeling the base motor may not be faster than the X5/6M but I bet they put the secret sauce in the chassis and it probably will have crazy steering feel for an suv.

That upper-end market is too competitive to charge 200k and it's not running with an Urus or 707

Like how it looks, hate the headlights—not even BMW.

Power output is pathetic. Shouldve given it 700hp and 625lb/ft…something to that degree.

What's revolutionary about the interior? It seems more evolutionary as it looks like the X6 interior with new screens and extra leather and suede.

Anybody also wonders why bmw strays away from air suspension in their suvs ? Baffles me that everyone has air suspension except for us.

For example so much ppl even people I know complain how harsh their suspension is with M version suvs. But here we are with a 170k xm "no air suspension" but yeah status lol

I suspect it will be the best handling SUV ever. But do performance SUV buyers want that? And if you personally want that, how much depreciation will you be eating when you sell it?

$159k starting price is steep.

I'm interested to hear about the market research behind this vehicle.

I would think I'd be in the target demographic (late 40s, executive in financial services and technology) but I can't wrap my head around the design, accents and even the powertrain choice. There is zero about this vehicle that's appealing to me at all. The previous generation X7 looked great, the current X5 M looks awesome, this is just way too out there.

Am I just getting old / out of touch or is this targeted to another segment entirely?

I think that's why they made a dedicated chassis and car for this. They like springs for the handling but their regularly X M cars are harsh. This will likely fix that.

But you are paying for this.

Interior looks nice.

I don't know the reasoning behind the heavily detuned V8. That's S58 performance. That Red Label (No more Competition?) version has the power I was expecting out of this drivetrain though.

There's too much for me to say about the exterior styling. I'm still trying to come to grips with the M3/4. One cool thing is the M stripes in the outer taillight design. I'm surprised they haven't done that before.

Turbo GT and I would take that 10 out of 10 times vs a 6000lb suv

I watched a video and they said it doesn't need it with the tech / engineering used.

I don't think some of the better handling suvs use air or even full air at all four corners
